As you all know WSAZ's Chris Bailey has a pretty popular blog on WSAZ...
Well Jim Barach of WCHS in his somewhat of a blog on WCHS website was talking about other stations overhyping storms, ect.
Then kinda back and forth from Chris's blog, saw some negatie posts on WCHS Facebook page, and here are some comments on Topix.com

Chris has discovered that if you dramatize the forecast, you only have to be right one in ten times to get big ratings. Whether it's politicians or weathermen, the public has a short memory.

This brings up the topic of hype, sensationalism, teasing or forward promoting within the show. While we all know the task master, ratings, what’s the responsibility to the viewer? My wife makes plans and decisions on what she will do based on the TV weather she watches. She’ll wait all the way through the news for a three line closer that has been hyped as news you need to know and turns out to be a yawn. My question, do ratings trump the responsibility?
