This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.
Hear Neill Franklin, Executive Director of LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition), speak on the problems and costs of the war on drugs, and the reasons society would be better off if it were ended.
Founded on March 16, 2002, LEAP is made up of current and former members of the law enforcement and criminal justice communities who are speaking out about the failures of our existing drug policies. Those policies have failed, and continue to fail, to effectively address the problems of drug abuse, especially the problems of juvenile drug use, the problems of addiction, and the problems of crime caused by the existence of a criminal black market in drugs.
The substance starts at about the 10 minute mark.
Of particular interest is the room of drug money at about the 27:30 mark.

"Any technology, no matter how primitive, is magic to those who don't understand it" - Ambrose's Corollary to Clarke's Third Law.
The "War On Drugs" is just another way to make money and has noting to do with helping the problem. Our own banks are laundering the drug money. But because it's "off shore" our government won't do anything.
I still say expose the users publicly. It is not the down and out crowd that buys all this stuff.

It required a Constitutional Amendment to start AND to end.
Why hasn't the War on Drugs?
Therein lies the best case study in how far the Republic has fallen.
The 112 (TEA Party) Congress will begin with a reading of the WHOLE Constitution into the Congressional Record. Maybe this will help?
"Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached"

Pat Robertson wrote:"We've got to take a look at what we're considering crimes and that's one of them," Robertson added. "I'm not exactly for the use of drugs. Don't get me wrong. But I just believe that criminalizing marijuana, criminalizing the possession of a few ounces of pot and that kind of thing, it's costing us a fortune and it's ruining young people."
Right. Many states with mandatory drug sentences will put passive pot use on your permanent record. A "youthful indiscretion" can lead to a lifetime of closed opportunities. That''s hardly fair...esp when we put drunks in a sober tank and let them go the next morning. The only difference is one substance is legal while the other is not.
This is why CA from now on is treating possession as no different than a minor traffic violation: $100 fine, no permanent record, no matter how many times you're caught.
Contrast that with bass ackward state like KY, who will throw you in jail and ruin your life over it.
Anyone who dares to think even one inch outside the box would have to conclude that the four decades-long "War on Drugs" is an abject failure and a discrace to taxpayers for so brazenly wasting our money on this crap... Still, many Americans are not willing to have an honest discussion on the topic. If you're for legalization, then you must be a closet junkie.
Never mind the incalculable social damage fighting this "war" has caused. Robertson has finally realized that drug abuse is caused by socal and spiritual issues that cannot be solved through law enforcement. They can move the users out of society but they cannot reach the underlying cause. Fear of punishment in and of itself does not work.
This calls for one of the most successful propaganda videos ever made...

Yeah right... Most of the people that call themselves members of the Tea Party, don't even know what the Boston Tea Party was about, much less the Constitution..
And why are my tax dollars being wasted on snow removal? The darn stuff is just going to melt anyway. And why are they spending MY money salting highways. If you can't drive on them, don't drive on them!
Ooohhhh....sorry, wrong thread. Tea Party references always inspire me.
