1470's move to 1200

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Their competition in Cannonsburg has some local...and three to four day old voice tracked weather.

I'd take no local over wrong local every time...

1200 actually sounds pretty good. Been listening to it some lately (see other post about satellite radio being broken in new car :( )

The signal is very, very good. After dusk though they basically can be heard only within SIGHT of the tower though... 1470's old nighttime signal did a little better than that but I guess it's a fair trade to have the MUCH stronger daytime/critical hours signal.

Exit question: Will someone else (WLGC 1520 or WZZW 1600) attempt to move to 1470? 1600 is a class D with flea power at night, 1520 is a daytimer with it's primary class A to it's east. Would be a bigger win for WLGC if they made the move as they don't have ANY nighttime authority beyond their PSSA (which is now on the FCC website). Considering that it wouldn't cost very much to adjust their existing tower/equipment from 1520 to 1470 it would seem logical to me for them to try to move there and get some flea power (1470 had 70 watts or so) if for no other reason than to be able to legally run some of the sports they HAVE run on 1520 after dark :) I can't see clear channel making the effort to move 1600 to 1470 since the signal is nothing but an afterthought to them anyway.

Another question... I have been perusing some of the PSRA and PSSA letters for some of the local AM's, and some of the class D's get PSSA's that are less than the flea powers they are authorized for at night... Does their nighttime flea power override the PSSA if it's higher?

Oh, joy. (Not). Heard on the air AND found on the website:
Better Life Programs on the Weekends Begin in January 2011

In early January 2011, WNBL 1200AM will be adding better life programing to the weekend broadcast schedule. Programs will foucus on areas realated to physical, emotional and spiritual health and helping you reach financial goals. We look forward to hearing your suggestions and feedback to make Better Life Radio in the Tri-State area the source for great music and programing that helps you and your family live your best life ever!
http://www.wnblam.com/ By the way, that is copied and pasted exactly as found. The care taken with spelling there is not exactly awe-inspiring.

I knew this was too good to be true...except for no news or weather, it was basically the old AM800 adult standards back again...and soon it won't be....Well, Sunday already had quite a bit of preaching, etc.:

See also, this, targeted at advertisers:

That one is also replete with errors, and calls itself an award-winning website! Go figure.

Seems to me this is quickly headed to a mess....

1200 AM
Better Life.
Mortenson Broadcasting Company.
Samuel Adams Lager.

I find something amusing about that.

Yes, that's the ad that just ran...

Along with teachers, policemen, firemen and others can make 10 to 20k a year being a sales rep for Mortenson Broadcasting. Somehow, I doubt they want Samuel Adams as a client. And yes, I know how national advertising works on the birds. Still, it's funny. Hysterical, actually.

A great sketch from a show that was hilarious, albeit short-lived. It's still hard to believe that Dave Chappelle walked away from $55 million.
