WPDX/WOBG AM

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

WPDX/WOBG AM

Post by JKF18 »

I have noticed both WPDX 750 and WOBG 1400 have been off for awhile now. WPDX has until August, WOBG has until later this month to return to the air or the license will automatically cancel per the FCC silent authorization.

Does anyone believe either will actually return to the air or is AM radio dead in Clarksburg?

PDX had problems with both its ATU as well as with the BE transmitter.

Wow. I hadn't noticed. WOBG used to be a nice change with its "Music of Your Life" or whatever you call it, although its sound quality left something to be desired. Definitely calms the road rage a bit. How long have they been off? What's their FM up to now?

I believe WOBG AM, which had been airing Dial Global's America's Best Music, has been off for almost a year now. WOBG-FM is doing ESPN and local sports talk days and classic hits nights. WPDX AM was the Music Of Your Life, then most recently was a simulcast of the FM.

Where are the WPDX studios now? Are they near the old Great 98 "building" ?

I do know that the old "Stereo 98" building is uninhabitable. Seems to me the EPA discovered a high level of Wings Ole sauce in a wall over where the garbage can used to sit in the main studio and declared that "there shall never be a radio station in this building again".

WPDX is out past Wal-Mart on US 250 South...

It's now "later this month."

The X is back on. Sounds great north of Fairmont all the way to the Ramada Inn in Morgantown off of I-68/I-79...
