You're probably right - the properties on the picture show that the file is named MN1.jpg so the initials are right.....

Also, his mother invented what became known as Liquid Paper, not Wite-out. According to wikipedia she and others built the company up and then sold it to Gillette in 1980 for $48 Million. She died a few months after the sale at age 56, so he most likely got the fortune then. He's an only child and his parents divorced in 1946 when he was 4, which was 9 years before she invented the correction fluid.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Nesmith

Mike Nesmith wrote this song inspired by a large collection of old 45 records from the '20s and '30s he purchased at a yard sale. Along with "Magnolia Simms," this was a tribute to the ragtime and jazz of the '20s, even going so far as recording using gramophone technology to mimic the echo and the skipping of an old recording. It was also the basis for Nesmith's first major solo project in 1968, The Wichita Train Whistle Sings. The title is not mentioned in the lyrics. Mike Nesmith had a habit of doing this a lot on his compositions.

Always loved Nes and his tunes. Really loved the Monkees stuff when he sang lead too. "Salesman", "Door Into Summer", and "What Am I Doing Hangin Round" (Written by Michael Martin Murphey) were all faves of mine.

Y'all are correct. Unfortunately, he did not come to Charleston with the others when I saw the Monkees in a show with the Grassroots and Gary Puckett at the Civic Center back in the late 1980's.

Cassandra was on (I believe the Carson show) one night as Elvira. He made a comment about her dress. She said Honey them things are glued down to where an earthquake wouldn't shake them out. that is as direct a quoit as i can remember. then there a lot of loud and long laughing. we would ait her show on 13 on Saturday nights.

Somehow I don't think so. The first 45 was an Eddie Arnold tune, was it not? Hardly the 20's & 30's! More false history from the internet?

Yes, forty-fives came along in the fifties. Same technology as the 33, which CBS developed in the late40's. 78 RPM for anything before then.
