Re: Wikileaks is serious
In order to access classified information, a person needs a security clearance of the appropriate class
and a "need to know". A common Private First Class would not normally have access to the types of communications
in this major leak. Someone, somewhere did not do their job supervising the leaker. An unsecured computer on the
night shift or a password written on the side of the cpu, maybe. What PFC Manning did was very wrong, but there are safeguards
to prevent it. At any rate, what I have seen is more embarrassing than critical intelligence. Some of it was reported in the news years ago.

Not a big deal. The game is played like this: If the government cant hide their security secrets, it's their fault and the resulting information is fair game.
I know this because I'm still pissed at the woman who owned the newspaper in DC, blew the cover on the Greenbrier Bunker. She was a hero to many. I thought the bitch should have been executed as a traitor.

I first heard about the Greenbrier bunker in 1968, from a TV engineer who had talked to an AT&T Long Lines guy.
At that time I thought everybody knew about it.

A lot of local people knew about it (and maybe others). But that wasn't a reason to broadcast it all over the world.

I had a secret/crypto clearance and didn't know any secrets.
I barely knew where the latrines were.

Re: Wikileaks is serious
Everyone that has or has had a security clearance has signed such an oath....that NEVER expires! I have seen many devulge and be "slapped on the wrist". It sickens me. Should I ever rat, they have the right and I have the full expectation, of evaporating. Now if they would enforce this equally!!!!

There's a classic sci-fi book from the 70's called "The Shockwave Rider" by John Brunner.
It pretty much predicts exactly this kind of thing.

Well, we have become a bunch of politically correct pussies and won't do anything about it except apologize some more.
But if this Wikileaks guy starts doing this to other countries like Russia, he will one day wake up in a hotel room full of radiation...

He is going after a major US bank.
That will get the full attention of S.P.E.C.T.R.E.
Ernst Stavro Blofeld will be displeased.

Is the warrant regarding the rape allegation he's been dodging for awhile now.
I think Assange is a dirtbag, but don't shoot the messenger. Execute a few of those leaking military secrets and his resources will rapidly diminish.
Of course, he won't do this shit to Russia because he knows what they'd do to him. He only picks on America because he can.

Yeah, all that damned due process stuff gets in the way on this. Why hasn't this guy been named a terrorist and had the shit rendered out of him?
Also, I agree with Lester on executing traitors. This is specifically for the military and state department leaks. I don't give a damn about the banks, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies he is set to rat out. I'm looking forward to seeing just how deep that river of evil runs.
