Now THIS is High School football!

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Now THIS is High School football!

Dont Taze my Quarterback Bro!
Laidley Field, Charleston WV.

The South Charleston-Hurricane Class AAA playoff game Friday night was spirited and competitive, but the end of the contest was simply chaotic.

Players from both teams were involved in a melee on the field with 14 seconds remaining in South Charleston's 30-26 quarterfinal victory, which advances the Black Eagles into next week's semifinal round.

After SC's Jervaughnte Allen intercepted a pass at about his own 20 to end Hurricane's final threat, players from both teams began pushing and shoving and benches emptied onto the field, prompting a lengthy delay. A flurry of penalty flags was also thrown to the turf by game officials.

During the fracas, several Hurricane players were hit with pepper spray from security personnel who also ran onto the field, and Redskins coach Willis May said some of his players were Tasered.

"It was two kids going for the ball,'' said Hurricane coach Willis May of the final play, "both of them trying to get it. It was do or die. Push became more than a push, and both were trying to go after it.

"It's just a daggone shame they had to put pepper spray and use a Taser on everybody. I thought that was a little bit uncalled for. There were about eight of [my players], shoot, every one of them in there got pepper sprayed. I got pepper sprayed. Two of my kids got Tasered. That's uncalled for. We had our sideline taken care of. Coaches were out there getting them apart, and so did [SC coach John] Messinger. He thought it was uncalled for.''

It was not immediately known who used pepper spray or Tasers to break up the melee. Both uniformed officers and plainclothes security personnel were on hand at Laidley Field.

During the fracas, Messinger injured his knee and SC assistant coach Donnie Mays got one of his fingers stuck in a player's facemask and also suffered an injury.

"SC assistant coach Donnie Mays got one of his fingers stuck in a player's facemask and also suffered an injury."

In Logan, the cops just shoot the offending players.
