An interesting set of photos
From JFK's 1960 presidential campaign. Several are never before seen shots in West Virginia.

Picture #8 shows Kennedy on top of a kitchen stool in the parking lot of Shaheen Shopping center in Omar, WV. 25638.
I am one of the young boys in the photo. Not the one with the toy gun. I always preferred a rifle.

Awesome pics.
One could make a solid argument that JFK is influencing WV politics to this very day.

Re: An interesting set of photos
The picture that was used for the cover of the magazine was titled,
"Kennedy gets the back porch vote in Omar".
He was photographed going up the steps to an apartment over the
Charlie Tabor beer garden at the other end of the parking lot.
That would have been to the left in the man on a stool picture.
The owners of Shaheen's were the Abraham family. Big then
in Logan county politics and big now too. I think the store and adjoining buildings burned some time ago.

Re: An interesting set of photos
The Abraham/Shaheen family sold out a few years ago. A Little General Store now sits on that property. Rick Abraham (son of Bill the political boss in Logan County...at least one of them for years) was the last owner. He and son Jeremy patened a series of mine safety products over the last couple of years and have become (again) MULTI millionaires. Other son, Brian, was the prosecuting attorney for the county in the Megan Williams case
Titties and beer...thank God almighty for titties and beer!
