Mystery Missle

(CBS/AP) The Pentagon Tuesday said it was trying to determine if a missile was launched Monday off the coast of Southern California and who might have launched it.

Spokesmen for the Navy, Air Force, Defense Department and North American Aerospace Defense Command said they were looking into a video posted on the CBS News website that appears to show a rocket or some other object shooting up into the sky and leaving a large contrail over the Pacific Ocean.

"Nobody within the Department of Defense that we've reached out to has been able to explain what this contrail is, where it came from," Pentagon spokesman Col. Dave Lapan said. "So far, we've come up empty with any explanation."

They are now saying it is an airplane dumping colored water (stunt plane) and that the same thing was photographed this summer in Florida. NOT a missle.

My first question: Who shot the video? When? Where? Did CBS find a DVD taped to the windshield of a remote truck?
Seems to me that would be the first thing a good journalist would find out.


That's definitely a short-range missile, or some special-effects guy's pretty good imitation of one.

The KCBS story certainly shows a missile. Looking further for more written info, (don't have sound on this computer) ABC news reports that it was a KCBS helicopter that got the shot. If true (and not some internal hoax), kind of debunks the story of "mis-time stamped video" or "video from Florida last summer."

Given the location--off Los Angeles, could possibly be someone experimenting on a special effect for a movie with a small plane and colored water (although doubtful--look at the speed at which the contrail was generated). Or someone's amateur rocket (very possible--and guaranteed to aggravate the FAA).

"Airplane" description isn't flying. Now trying to tab it on a "commercial venture". In other words....a missle was fired 35 miles off our coast and we haven't a clue who did it. Don't believe it! We know who and just won't tell. (Wrong time for another war). "Radar sweep didn't see anything". I don't believe that either.

DoD "Not a missile". Former amb. Elsworth "It is a big missile". You can't launch a missile without other countries 'seeing' it....just like we 'see' theirs. Either everyone knew of the launch or the Navy nearly started a war. Obama needs to get his ars back here and clean house at the DoD, who, without a good explanation (it's a jet), will be seen as completely out of control!

Even John Pike of GlobalSecurity.org says it was a jet. The object was moving too slowly to be a missle.

The profits may go back to Mexico, but the folks in Horsham, PA that run the US operations of Grupo Bimbo would find it insulting in being called Mexicans.

For the rest of the crap I have heard about the device that was launched off the coast of CA, I would much rather believe this was a missile than a jet spewing a contrail. The missile conspiracy theorists are much less scary than the chemtrail crazies.

In other news, I can explain the presence of thermite at the WTC site.

Close. It's the fourth test of the Navy's Jet-sub under development by Lucky Al (Lockheed). Now that I've said that, I can expect a visit from DoD anytime.
