Ladies And Gentlemen, May I Take You Back To 1979-80

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Ladies And Gentlemen, May I Take You Back To 1979-80

Post by Scott Reppert »

...and look into why WTCS was THE greatest radio station on the face of the Earth. Ever. Period...

David Werner--What's Right?

Ironhorse--Sweet Louise

Tim Curry--I Do The Rock

20/20--Nuclear Boy

Randy VanWarmer--Suzi

McGuinn, Clark And Hillman--Don't You Write Her Off

Be Bop DeLuxe--Panic In The World

Graham Parker--Stupefaction

Sparks--Beat The Clock

And, finally, one of the greatest finds of my YouTube career. We wore out copy after copy of this...

Hansie--Automobile

I would lay good money that someone (me, Conrad, Jeff Audia, Mark Thompson, NLF) probably played most, if not ALL, of those in one airshift...

Of those songs listed above, I have heard exactly none of them. Then again, I was only 4 when those songs dropped. :D

You probably shouldn't have heard any of those songs outside of Australia, London or Fairmont, WV! Only two of those songs hit the Billboard Top 40 ("Don't You Write Her Off" and "Sweet Louise") and I think only two of the others ("Suzi" and "I Do The Rock") charted at all. Point being there, Mr. Media, is that there is a ton of great music that gets overlooked, in every era, by every format...

Which is why the whole concept of "format" is in a serious need of reworking.
