Paying college football players would prevent robberies

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Paying college football players would prevent robberies

Post by CoolBreeze »

Player Thinks Protection Money Will Solve The Problem:

J.T. Thomas took to Twitter Tuesday and West Virginia's weak side linebacker had a strong take on a timely topic.

Pay college athletes.

He has valid views and thinks paying players might fix some athletes and some problems. How often are players arrested for theft or in trouble for selling their jerseys - or worse? Thomas even believes paying players might keep some from taking money from agents, though he realizes it doesn't erase the issue.

"It's not the cure because the agents can offer a lot more than what you get a month as a player, but it would probably stop some of them and at least put a bandage on it," he said.

What helped considerably with the issue of agents paying players was the rule change in 1999 that didn't force players to pay back any agents who gave them money while they were college even if the player in question didn't sign with them. The SI article on Josh Luchs revealed how that cut back big-time on the payoffs, since there was no recourse for agents who paid players but didn't sign them.
