K2 ....."Spice"... really popular here

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

So legalizing "organic" drugs would help the Mexican situation--how?
If you legalize crack, coke, and pot, then their is little need in the marketplace for meth.

Well, that is if the government removes the ban on natural, amphetamine like herbs from Asia. That would pretty much make the market for meth, LSD, PCP, ecstasy, etc. go away.

There are rumblings that President Calderon is seriously considering legalizing many drugs in Mexico, at least weed.

The idea is to undermine profits from the drug cartels' #1 cash crop: weed. At least 50% of their money comes from this single substance. Much of it is being trafficked into the USA, due to high demand.

Granted, it won't completely stop them... But that's less money they will have to buy weapons and bribe cops and politicians.

Couple this with the weed propositions on the ballots of many states, I think that we as a country will soon be forced to rethink and reshape this endless "War on Drugs" that has spiraled completely out of control, and is literally still stuck in the early 1980's... This should include legalization of at least marijuana.

Much has changed since then.

If you want to take out the cartels, not only do you shoot at them from the top, but you also undermine their profit motives from the bottom.

Does that mean I can't go to the burger or taco restaurants any more?
8)

People can legally go to Taco Bell, eat 6 Chalupas, then go out and do shots all night while chain-smoking Marlboros.

Yet, it's illegal for anyone to quietly smoke a doobie anywhere -- even in the privacy of one's own home.

You decide what makes more sense...

When considering legalisation, we need to consider relative dangers of course.
The next person to die from marijuana will be the first to die from it.
The next person to be addicted to pot will be the first.

A stoner behind the wheel killed four on the interstate near Barboursville.
Several years ago. Another stoner fell out of his car in the west end of Huntington.
He was run over by following traffic.

There are dangers.

OK.

But now I am risk for getting shot by a drug runner from Detroit when driving down the wrong street in east Huntington.
