Re: A Bridge, WGNT, JB Miller and Clinton Burley
It is interesting that no one has mentioned the fiasco surrounding the Huntington end of the bridge 25 years ago. The end of the bridge was not at 31st street. It was to intersect up river with rt 60, the normal thing to do. "Huntington would be by-passed" was the cry and some dumb "histoic house" in Guyandotte was proped up as the reason the connection could not be built. Move the damn house. Connect the bridge to rt 60 as planned and let Huntington (your new tax headquarters; 1 % income and 7% sales tax just for working/living there) go screw its self!

Really hard to believe that HD could only find Clinton Burley as an expert on the impact of the bridge.

Hey, those HD folk know where to go to find the experts on just about any subject. The impact of bridges on a community? Heck, I'm all over it!

Clinton, you did a super job. Just thought some of those gov. guys would want to talk. Then it did say experts. I guess that leaves those guys out.

The government guys DID want to talk about the bridge. I just talked too much, or so says Miller anyway.
Seriously, it was great to think back to those simple days at WGNT. Local, community-focused radio, completely involved in everything going on from Hanging Rock to Hurricane, tons of news/info, great books, live human beings in studio around the clock and Toufie Kassab to keep it all under control (Well, sort of. Sometimes he was running down to the Elks!) No doubt, it was a blast. We all had it made and were too young and stupid to know it....
