Gay judge overturns ban on same sex marriage

A federal judge overturned California's same-sex marriage ban Wednesday in a landmark case that could eventually land before the U.S. Supreme Court to decide if gays have a constitutional right to marry in America.

The biggest open secret in the landmark trial over same-sex marriage heard in San Francisco is that the federal judge who decided the case, Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker, is himself gay.

Many gay politicians in San Francisco and lawyers who have had dealings with Walker say the 65-year-old jurist, appointed to the bench by President George H.W. Bush in 1989, has never taken pains to disguise - or advertise - his orientation.

I think it would be sick and twisted but, sans offspring I don't care. Well, I shouldn't say I don't care. It would be disturbing, disgusting, and worrysome. However, there is no damage being done to anyone other than the brother and sister.

I don't. I'm all for it. I don't have a problem with gays in the military either, as long as there are four showers, or only one.

However, the democratic government in California put it to a vote, and the people decided. I have a really big problem with it being overturned when a process of the people is trampled by a single person with an agenda of his own.

And it throws away hundreds of thousands of African-American votes. They rallied out to vote for Obama, but they stepped out of line on the gay marriage vote, so along comes a whitey to throw out their uppity votes. How incredibly racist.

Yes, this is a problem for me too, unless marrying whomever you want is one of those inalienable rights. If it is, then the judge was right to overturn the law. Mob rule in antithetical to American democracy.
