Global Warming Anyone?

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

A little context from The Register: article

Perhaps this last investigation wasn't as transparent as we were led to believe?
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

Though it was the third investigation to reach the same conclusion, all by different groups. And a FOURTH investigation by yet another group is expected to release it's findings by next month.

Of course the other side, with NO investigations, can keep yelling "he lied".

Just to piss off deniers some more.
For those who say it's warmer because of increases in solar activity, sunspots, etc.
From an article on CNN.com on upper level atmospherics;

The thermosphere interacts strongly with the sun and hence is greatly influenced by the sun's solar activity, which occurs in cycles.

When solar activity is high, solar extreme ultraviolet rays warm and expand the thermosphere. When it's low, the opposite occurs.

The collapse occurred during what's known as a "solar minimum" from 2007 to 2009, during which the sun plunged into an unprecedented low of inactivity. Sun spots were scarce and solar flares were nonexistent, NASA reported.

Sucks to have to deal with facts, doesn't it?

The earth has been warming and cooling for millions of years. Hence the "ice age" etc. Back in the mid 70s I took photos for the newspaper of fossils discovered at an interstate interchange just outside of town. Geologists said that the fossils were only found previously near the arctic. The same has been said about Cranberry Glades and that region. I suppose that too was somehow caused by man.

Location of the fossils is totally unrelated to climate. Plate tectonics moves fossils all over the place. You can find fossilises sea creatures in the Rockies.

If all the ice melts, can we strip-mine Greenland?

And so.... heat and cold has absolutely NOTHING to do with it right?

Gosh, it gets tiring trying to explain different aspects of science to people who don't understand how the world works.
1. The climate a creature or plant lives in affects it and how it evolves and survives. It affects what can live in that climate.

2. Once an animal or plant dies and becomes fossilized, plate tectonics can move those fossils darn near anywhere.

Thus, fossilized sea creatures high in the Rockies. The stone in which they were formed was once under water. Look up "Tethys Sea", "plate tectonics", "PanGaea" and "formation of continents".

3. Re-read the post to which you're replying. It is an answer to those on here (I believe you are among them) who have said the current warming trends on earth are due to increased solar radiation. Actually, we have been going through a "Solar Minimum" in recent years. Solar radiation is at some of the lowest levels ever recorded.

4. Sorry to annoy you with facts.

Until you explain the scientists on the other side of the debate, you really shouldn't be using the word "science" in your argument.

Fact is that every time a big volcano blows up, it tosses as much pollution into the air that man does in a decade. That's not to mention animal (and man) methane and the natural decomposition of damned near everything on the planet.

Like I said, the earth has been in turmoil since day one. The fact that it's been relatively calm the last thousand years or more is quite ABNORMAL... not normal. A few degrees difference? Hahaha... stick around long enough and you'll see what nature can do all by herself without any help from man whatsoever.

Uh... you don't even believe the earth is old enough for fossils to exist anyway, do you?

Uh,

When the other side of the debate gets some scientists, I'll be glad to explain it for you.

He said not understanding the concept of ironic comedy.

And with the inability to actually name any scientists for the other side or refute my original point, he resorted to a lame attempt at an attack that shows he doesn't understand the term "contradiction" either.

Ironic comedy?

The only irony in that sketch is that he's worried more about how mankind treats each other than global warming.

Your zealousness on the subject shows that it won't matter who I list... look them up yourself. They exist, can *you* find them?

"Zealousness" is not a word. What you mean is "zealotry."

Apologies, Robert. Just practicing.
