RIP WVOW's Jerry Stock
WVOW's Dr. Jerry Stock died Saturday night after a 15 year battle with cancer. Jerry hosted "Hymn and Gospel Time" for 22 years. He started his radio career at WCHS in the 60's. He worked at other stations including the old WLOG. He was a New York City native and retired college professor who just did radio more or less as a hobby. He was an interesting sort, to say the least. I'm sure Nunley and Kidd Conley have memories of him as well.

Oh, I don't know...perhaps he CHOSE to be here. Maybe I''m not understanding fully the question, but not everyone who works their ass off in REALLY small town radio is stuck here. Some of us CHOOSE to be here because (a) we don't have to worry about after, let's say 30 or more years on the air, getting replaced by network or syndicated programming of some kind, (b) we like to be RELEVANT in our own communities or (c) we like to make more than $20,000 a year. Just sayin'...

Hadn't been here for awhile, and just read about Jerry. I saw him about a year ago at St. Francis in Logan. Great guy.
