I saw this story on breitbart a couple days ago.... I just cant think of any real contributions to science from this part of the world, their crazy religious dogma prevents them from undertaking any kind of real science from what I have observed in my lifetime. Nuclear bombs dont count either....

Thousands of rocket scientists and other NASA workers are on the verge of unemployment because this president has virtually scrapped it's funding. Space exploration and the cutting edge technology breakthroughs that come with it is no longer important.

To watch one of America's greatest sources of national pride being reduced to politically correct diplomacy missions is absolutely disgraceful.

But this exemplifies the Progressive worldview of collectivism. National exceptionalism must be destroyed if we are to become good citizens of the world.

Meanwhile, all of those unemployed rocket scientists that we no longer have a use for will be snatched up by china, Russia, India, and other countries that have space travel ambitions, whether or not we cripple ourselves.

Or, they could just go on eternal unemployment.

The "National Aeronautics And Space Administration" will become sort of a scientific state department.
NASA is charged with explaining to the Muslims that they are responsible for today's science and technology.
It will be NASA's primary mission.

Nope.

"Arab" numbers are really Indian (As in SE Asia)--picked up by the Muslim Mongols when they captured the sub-continent.

Many of the "Arab" philosophers were Jews, who preserved ancient Roman and Greek texts of Aristotle and other early scientists, --and improved and expanded on their ideas.

The main Muslim scientific figure-Al Khwarizmi, was probably Persian, and represented a very brief period in the 8th century Baghdad where scientific and philosophic inquiry flourished before it was discouraged by the religious authorities.

NASA Guy Must Have Lied.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday that NASA Administrator Charles Bolden must have misspoken when he told Al Jazeera last month that one of his top priorities is to reach out to Muslim countries.

"That was not his task and that's not the task of NASA," Gibbs said.

Bolden, though, said last month in the interview that it was President Obama who gave him that task. He made a similar claim in February.

The White House also backed up Bolden last week when his remarks first stirred controversy. A White House spokesman last Tuesday said Obama wants NASA to engage with the world's best scientists and that to meet that challenge, NASA must "partner with countries around the world like Russia and Japan, as well as collaboration with Israel and with many Muslim-majority countries."

NASA last week walked back Bolden's claim that Muslim outreach was the "perhaps foremost" plank of his mission, saying that Bolden was merely talking about his "outreach" responsibilities and that space exploration is still NASA's No. 1 job.

We don't have room here to discuss every innovation we now enjoy that was produced either directly or indirectly by the space program. It was cost prohibitive in the late 50s and throughout the 60s as well. We need some real visionaries to lead us now.
