PPM heading to Nashville

This is (in part) why Nashville has three CHR stations right now -- the PPM is arriving here soon. I didn't realize that the sample size was so small.

"Data from a sample audience of 754 Nashville residents, starting at age 6 (there is no upper age limit) who are paid a small stipend to wear PPMs, began to be transmitted on Thursday. Sample size is small because they must find people who actually listen to broadcast radio.
They are harder to find.

Actually, they just have trouble getting people to wear the darn things. Nobody wants to commit to wearing one. A lot are just leaving them in the docks at home with the radio on.

Here's another problem I have with PPM, which we go on in August. No, not that you can't really sign up. It's that with diaries, diary keepers change every week. PPM meter holders will have their meters for up to 2 years I believe. So the same people will be making the ratings decisions over a long period of time. No more, "we had bad diary placement" excuses.
But overall, I find the meter exciting as it is rewarding content based stations and has been a boon for high profile personalities who can provide compelling material to listeners.

It's not coming to small markets. Rollout stops in market 50. Nothing else scheduled at this time.

Considering that Philadelphia might only have 30% of the FM Stations on the air with local production capabilities still in use, it is much more difficult to find radio for listeners to enjoy.

Actually, 95% of Americans listen to the radio every day. It is the single most widespread media on the planet. Still.
