WOAY morning show a no-show

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

WOAY morning show a no-show

Post by Greg Goodfellow »

While staying in Summersville the past two days, I decided to watch WOAY's morning news on Tuesday. However, it wasn't on. This happened one other time last year. Is this a frequent thing? If so, one would think ABC would threaten WOAY with loss of their affiliation, having no lead-in to "Good Morning, America." That is, as long as ABC doesn't know. With the Greenbrier golf event later this summer, one wonders how many stars may tune in to the former Channel 4, provided the Greenbrier can receive WOAY.

Certainly the advertisers, such as they are, can't be happy, or have they resigned themselves to the fact that things probably won't improve? With the monies they had to shell out to continue broadcasting, one would think that certain technical glitches would have been fixed by now.

It is not frequent, but there is no excuse for it. They should stay on the air all night as the skeleton crew has issues firing up the transmitter! It is a pity because they are much improved in talent and finesse lately!

For the sake of everyone in that neck of the woods, I'm glad that they're better. HOWEVER, they really need to replace that set! Surely they could work out something with a local contractor. As small as WDTV is, they've had several sets over the years. Each set change generates a certain buzz and implies that business is taken care of. Hopefully they can someday change their image. Folks post their own experiences with now TV 50 on topix.com/Beckley. It's been a while since I've seen the site, so I hope this is correct.

Are you saying that the transmitter did not come on or, that the studio did not work,
or that the morning staff did not show up?

Gen, after turning on the TV, there was nothing but black. It was a perfect picture of Middlebourne night life. Everything else came on just fine.
