REALLY stupid idea Kroger!

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

REALLY stupid idea Kroger!

Post by CoolBreeze »

Yesterday I had to buy food for the week. As I pulled my buggy out from the others, I noticed something new had been added to the world of shopping carts:

Carts for kids.

These carts were very small, about 1/3 the size of a standard cart. I didn't think much of it until....

Quite often there's a flow of traffic inside a supermarket. You might be close to the same people throughout your trip. In my case this was the situation. Who were my traveling companions?

A woman with 3 kids, all pushing miniature shopping carts.

The carts were each pretty full, and the kids were all over the place with them. They refused to stay in line. They blocked the aisles for the entire trip. Mom was constantly telling them to move their carts out of the way.

HEY MOM.. HERE'S AN IDEA: GET ONE BIG CART AND PLAY WITH YOUR KIDS SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Yes, I know all about the "kids need to learn to shop too" crap. But for Christs sake, this is little more than shoppers abuse. If I see this again under the same circumstances, I will have to say something to the parent AND the store manager. Hell... I'm sending Kroger this post right now.

Tell Kroger manager the kids were running amok and you almost fell over a cart.
Threaten to sue. Ask for the managers full name and employee number.

Problem will soon resolve itself when local kids steal all the little carts.
I am assuming inner city Krogers.

No, actually this was a Kroger where Charlestons well-to-do shop. I just happen to live closest to this store.

Your fault.

Maybe you're right... It's funny, you cant do a damned thing with rich people OR poor people. I don't know which is worse. (but I know who I'd still rather have live next door.)

I like those little carts. It beats carrying a basket through the store...

Or pushing a bigass cart through the store just to get a couple 12 packs of pop and a gallon of milk because I don't have three hands.

It's a good compromise.

Given the success of the smaller sized shopping carts in any of a number of other places, it seems to me that the "REALLY stupid idea" is allowing people who have no business being parents the privilege of procreation.

This is not the first time that Kroger has tried this. They had children's carts back in the late 1980s and early 1990s and eventually were removed due to a lack of use.

The little buggys at old and really small Krogers in Ashland and Russell were Fisher Price models while larger Krogers had a couple of the minature carts that looked small versions of a regular cart.

Here in Louisville Kroger has adult sized carts with racecar bodies tacked on to them in the rear so kids can ride inside. Good idea in theory, but the things are about 10 feet long and most parents can't handle them in aisles very well.

Yeah, it's like watching a semi make a tight turn around the cream corn...except these have 4 little brats hanging off the edges pulling crap on the floor.

At my local Kroger, they have adult size mini carts. They even have drink holders on the side.

That's what I'm sayin'...

There are a few ShopRite franchises in Philly with those short wheel base carts with a really low center of gravity. Navigating the aisles of a crowded grocery store is wonderful with one of those babies.

The carts that are bad are the really long double decker carts at Wegman's. The short ones are a bit long for my taste and the long ones feel like a 32 ft straight truck when navigating the aisles.

I like Ikea's carts with the casters on the front and rear wheels. Really makes manuevering the aisles much easier...

Carts all over Europe have that same design. I often wondered why they didnt catch on here.

I'm sure it has something to do with liberals. Everything bad (large or small) is because of liberals.

Another reason I'm voting for you for governor Nunley. Sure, I don't live in state, but I'm positive something can get worked out.

For the record, that was not me slapping Waters. It was me being a smart ass in general. Even more reason to vote for me.

Jay, we can't let Arizona one-up us.

What's your plan to put WV in international headlines and draw unanimous condemnation by the UN?

Imagine that "big middle finger" being flashed on TV screens all over the world...

My platform primarily rests on legalizing drugs, prostitution, and even more gambling.

This is a real plan with controls and caveats that make sense. I'll have to dig it up and post it.

There is also a large section on keeping more of the wealth we generate here in the state.

Plus, some liberal shit you guys will hate like massive education initiatives.
