The flooding here in the Nashville area has been really bad, and it has had a widespread impact across the community here. My house is dry tonight; I'm one of the lucky ones. Nashville hasn't seen flooding like this since before they started keeping records. LP Field is underwater. Bridgestone Arena (home of the Nashville Predators) has flooded considerably. Homes have been destroyed. Lives have been lost.
I give credit to Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen and Nashville mayor Karl Dean for responding quickly and effectively. Emergency workers did a great job on very short notice.

Thanks Lester. Luckily I am fine, though flooding from the Cumberland River is still causing damage to downtown Nashville right now. I'm proud of how everyone from the coordinating officials to the rescue/response workers to the community as a whole has banded together to do everything they can to help however they can in this difficult situation.

WSM is broadcasting from their transmitter site because the flooding has pretty much dunked all of the Gaylord Entertainment properties, including Opryland and the downtown area. The Opry House is flooded, and the Country Music Hall of Fame has water in the Ford Theater, but so far the exhibits are safe.

You guys don't ever really watch national media do you? I saw coverage of it this week on CBS and NBC, not to mention the cable news outlets and the local news here.

It was take some time for Nashville to recover. The impact was wide-reaching, from Nashville/Davidson County school being closed for the entire week to people with homes still flooded. I'm proud of how people here in Nashville have rallied together to make the best of things, and both Clear Channel and Cumulus radio raised money and collected donations for flood victims.
