I don't know anything about the station but it seems to me that SOMEBODY is really missing the boat (especially on an oldies format) by not picking up Gary "Music" Miller full time. I know he is doing some work for CC. I contacted him via this board and he has been doing some spots for us at 'VOW.

The Big 1080 oldies must be having some tech problems. Weather and news outdated. I sure hope they have not given up.

Scott Shannon does a great job with the format. A little too much Scott,always the DJ. Some local live programming would be good.

Local shows create even more interest. Gary Music Miller, Dave Conley, Charlie Dunlap and even Timmy Tyler would all sound great.

Tim Tyler was a KEE J many years ago when FM was still waiting to happen. Tyler spent some time at WIRO...TV here and Lexington for many years.

A good talent with some very good teachers. He loves those oldies.

To set the record straight, my broadcasting career includes time at WCMI AM & FM, WKEE AM & FM. WIRO, WTCR, WOWK-TV and WTVQ-TV in Lexington. I would love to get back on the air and show you guys how to go "old school radio" as I learned from the likes of Jack O'Shea and the late Jim Schneider.

Tim,thanks for the info..I forgot some of the stops you made..remember Jim Elliott at WIRO? We were there the day he walked away in the middle of his mid day gig...I can still see Ken Auble running to the parking lot. Jim had just the word on a VA retirement..oh , those were fun days.

In regards to the word last week On WEMM PD ,taking on the controls at WYHY ,Cannonsburg.The new word is management would not let him
have full control..over programming,sales and tech. The PD is Dewayne Fowler.Word has it he and Rhino did not see eye to eye on sales packages.
The format is the True Oldies Channel with Scott Shannon..Fowler wanted to do a pm drive..that was iffy. Could some one else be in the wings?
Time will tell.

I last experienced WRVC in 1999.

When you had to be careful what part of the console you touched or a short circuit would happen. Or pots that had dead zones in them. There were also bare wires just above your legs sitting at it. Which you didn't want to come in contact with. Basically the whole thing clearly needed to be ripped up and rebuilt.

I did enjoy learning how to work carts though. Oh, and skipping the slots that were dead.

It honestly didn't surprise me that the reason we went off the air every other week was because a TREE was growing through the transmitter building.
