repeter radio and emergencies
i noticed when there was a bad accident on I-64 and I64 was closed nothing was on the radio about. could this be because no one was home? Radio started out to provide this type of information, but now there are no one there and EAS was no used. with the mine disaster tv was the onle news at first. then NPR picked it up. you can't get TV audio now as you could in the past in your car. just a long trafic jam with no information.

To their credit, Rock 105 was all over it. I heard about it as soon as I got in the car at 4:30. Unfortunately, it served me no purpose because route 60 was a cluster, too. I ended up going through Salt Rock to get to Huntington---a 40 mile detour. Took over 2 hours to get from Hurricane to Huntington.

There was no good way to get from Hurricane to Huntington during the aftermath of the big wreck.
Salt Rock was the best southern option, Glenwood or Barker Ridge was to the north.
Radio could have told you that you were screwed if you were in a hurry or forgot to fill the tank.
