ESPN 1490 simulcast on 104.5 ?

I was scanning through to Rock 105 and it stopped at 104.5. I thought "wow J104 is making it this far?" After listening a while, it became obvious it was a Charleston station, and a little longer, they finally ID'd.

Anybody know if there's a further plan other than simulcasting?

I searched on 1490, 104.5 and ESPN and didn't see anything recent. If I missed another thread about this, I apologize.

WVRC changed the primary-station for the 104.5 translator from WRVZ "The Beat" to 1490 WSWW.
Transmitter location is moving to above Wilson Island and an app for an upgrade (An A-Countour over Charleston) to 250 watts.
The minor-change has only been accepted for filing by the FCC. There's no construction permit for the location-change yet.

I wish WVRC would improve the fidelity of their translators. Just like the 95.3 translator for 680. Last time I was in Huntington, the 94.1 translator for 930 sounded fantastic. 95.3 and 104.5 don't sound any better on FM than they do on AM.

I know the trend is for Sports and N/T moving to FM, but I'd like to see a music format on 104.5. For the few of us Charlestonians who remember it, hearing Z-Rock on 1490 again (like the late 80s/early 90s) would be a treat. Plus a 250 watt translator in the city would give it decent coverage on FM. Bring back Z-Rock!

So much for the far fetched wish list...back to reality. I'll crank up XM48 and forget about it...

Kindred is sending a FM fidelity feed to their 94.1 translator (easy to do, it's on the roof of the building that their studios are in). Also, 930 broadcasts in AM stereo.

WVRC does neither it seems.
