Ladies & Gentlemen...I Bring You..."The Morgantown Pirate"!!

I heard him on Thursday, 02-18-10, with a good signal while driving around town (I would lay money he is in the Kingwood Pike/Summer School Road area). He backed up "Big City Miss Ruth Ann" with "Heartbeat (It's A Love Beat)" and went into "The Free Electric Band" before seguing into what you hear in the telescoped 13 minute aircheck that I have linked to.

The only thing I missed was the commercial (for a restaurant on The Mileground). I ran inside work, got the H4 unhooked (if you don't have an H4, you should), slipped in a couple of AA's, switched it over from LINE IN to MIC IN, went out to my car, left the key in and on and recorded about an hour and fifteen minutes worth of him.

Scott, thanks for your efforts. THAT is a beautiful thing to behold. I so wish that we in Huntington would have had the forethought to record the famed South Point Pirate before his friends from the FCC downed his tower. We were young, stupid and didn't know any better. To listen to his live, paid remote broadcast from Lowes parking lot just one more time would be nearly priceless.

The guy has a good music mix and solid sounders. What he doesn't have is talent, expertise or a license. Heck, why sweat the little stuff? The guy is obviously having a ball and in reality is hurting no one. He is no danger to WVRC or any other "real" broadcaster in Morgantown. He is bold enough to even announce when he will be live again. I love it! I hope he has pizza, chips and soft drinks ready for the visitors he will soon have at his home. Might as well be a gracious host while preparing to go dark.

Good night, Morgantown Pirate. I fear that your fate will be sealed sooner rather than later.

That skimmer tape may just land Dr. John a job at 3WS Pittsburgh! His regular show scheduled for last night did not air. 95.5 went dark yesterday afternoon. I believe you skimmed his "last show." From what I understand, he is done........

It's been over a year now. What, if any, punishment was handed out to "The Morgantown Pirate"?

Actual jail time? Monetary fine? Have to register as a "Frequency Offender"? Hand over your exciter?

Just wondering...
