Perp Walks have always been important to the news media, but more and more police facilities have decided to do away with the walks for "safety reasons".
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Soon, people arrested by the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department will be quickly and safely processed in a state-of-the-art booking facility.
Sheriff's officials like the new arrangement so much they're willing to let every police department in the county bring their prisoners there.
The new booking area will be directly off the loading dock in the old AEP garage, behind a set of garage doors. Johnny Rutherford said the garage door will be opened just before a deputy brings a prisoner in, and will be closed after the deputy parks his or her cruiser.
