Well I have been reading this tread for some time now. Thought I would throw in my 2 cents.

We have been used to using those gas eating things for what, about a 100 years.
It had an impact on, people who breed and sold horses, buggies, and other items of transportation. Throw in train travel.
The general public was accustomed to mass transportation. Heck, I was amazed to know there was a trolley, line that went from one end of town to another.
Along comes a way each and every person can go from point "A" to Point "B", all by them self. Why would they not go for something so they could go where they wanted, when they wanted.
Now, we have been used to this, but opps!!!! we need to get the mind set, of each person that gas is bad, another way is needed, (real or not.)
The mind set needs to be adjusted. The tech is there, (in the beginning stages), begin to switch.... how do we do it. How do we at the same time make it so corp. company's will want to invest in re-tooling, and making profit in a some other way.
The mind set of all these people have been, faster and faster, more horses more bling!
Well let us come up with something to scare the hell out of everyone.... lets talk about something everyone can relate to. "Cue:, THE WEATHER GUY".
It's on everyone's mind each and every day. Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall.
Cause corp. to re-tool, bring out a cause everyone can jump on....Save the Earth. Bring on the electric cars, Hybrids, Fusion and all things related to energy and transportation. With a win - win mindset we can Save the Earth and bring on the cheap stuff..... but.... don't do it too soon, we need to get rid and pay off all the stuff, we have built to produce .... that gas stuff.
When gas, and coal power plants are, a thing of the past, and the new great thing, FUSION kicks in, (that will find a way to increase in price 100 years from now), we will need a new cause. Maybe, get the hell out of town, and visit Mars, or bask in the warmth of Venus.

Climate change may or may not be true, but from the being of time, the earth and universe has kept turning. One day it will stop, contract, get swallowed up by a black hole, the earth smashed to bits by a big rock from space, or my favorite, taken over by another visitor, that has a head that looks like a bowling ball with a helmet.

If it is true...... I think we are F$%#ed already and it's too late.... and if Al Gore is not shot off into space, or taken to a enclosed city, to live out the rest of his natural life.... well at least we can talk about the next big thing, on the internet he will start up in the after life. (Damn, I want to thank him for giving me this tool, that has consumed my life at the moment.)

If its a bunch of shit...... well at lest it got the ball rolling to something, that might stop some wars, bring down prices, around something I can afford, to get from POINT "A " to "B". (Well after I sell my soul to purchase one of the new ones.)

Interesting you should make that point, because during the Bush administration, when it most certainly did NOT politically favor them, the scientists at NASA and NOAA, the leading climate scientists on the planet, did indeed keep fighting to make their findings known, in spite of administration censorship of reports and threats of cutting research funding.
By the way, extremes of weather like we are experiencing this winter on the east coast and the northwest, both too cold and too hot, were predicted a decade ago by global warming scientists. What predictions have the "debunkers" made that are being proved true?
