Nascar Nationwide Series Race/Daytona

Danica Patrick is running in car #7 (go-daddy).
Most of the race coverage seems to be about her, her track position and any other way to show her picture.
She is currently 34th down from starting position of 15th.
I watch these races and most ball games with the sound muted and I can't imaging the smotherage
of crap the announcers must be spewing.

They have been trying to turn Nascar into a personality thing for years.
Since the Dale Jr. effort didn't work and most drivers have no personality,
Danica must be next on the lets make a media icon list.


God help us if she ever wins a race.

I actually watched some of the race today, the first Nationwide event I believe I've ever watched. Guess why? Bet I'm not the only one.
It's all about ratings and marketing. Get used to her, she's now the biggest star on the circuit.

Can someone watch a 5'3 130 pound woman compete in a NASCAR race and STILL try to convince me that race car drivers are athletes in the same way that professional football, baseball, basketball, or Tennis players are??

Danica Patrick = sponsorship dollars. She may be unworthy of a spot in Nationwide based on experience, but she can get advertisers, which in this economy trumps all.
