Should have thought of this during Viet Nam!

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Should have thought of this during Viet Nam!

Obesity A Threat to National Security

As a lifelong smoker, I got sick and tired of hearing "my fat wont kill you, but your smoke will kill me".
No... DIABETES AND HEART ATTACK WILL KILL YOU. My argument has brought the above response even to this board. I stated that people DO die by the hands of the overweight

Now there's proof that we're all gonna die when the Chinese or "whomever" tries to eat our lunch next time. It will be easy for them because we'll be too busy eating our OWN lunch. Then I saw this:

Health care experts, including two former U.S. Surgeons General, said on Wednesday said that obesity has reached epidemic proportions and is a threat to security in the United States and abroad.

SEE? I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG!

Obesity is crippling individuals and hurting American families, the workforce – even work productivity and the nation’s ability to be prepared for natural and man made disasters: “When we look at one of the top reasons why young men and women fail to be retained on active duty in our uniformed services, obesity again rises to the forefront at a time when we need them more than ever.”

This story interested me when I heard a report that almost THIRTY PERCENT of the current crop are rejected by military service due to obesity. Add to that TWENTY PERCENT for police records and you have a full HALF of all eligible military service kids being rejected... UNFIT for military service. If the Draft ever returns, I think those number will actually be higher.

Why didn't we think of this during Viet Nam? I mean... I could have eaten a little more....

You seem kind of flippant and possibly unaware of what is happening....

...is a threat to security in the United States...

"Food Police" are on the way... and they're well staffed with former members of the "Smoking Police".

Of course they are! And more power to the bastards!

First they came for the smokers
and I did not speak out
because I was not a smoker.
Then they came for the fatties
and I did not speak out
because I was not a fatty.
Then they came for the beer drinkers
and I did not speak.....

Hey! Wait a damned minute here!!!!!

How to turn a negative into a positive.
Mandatory service for all seriously obese citizens.
Induct them, feed them well for a few weeks, load them into cargo planes and....wait for it...

DROP THEM AS BOMBS ON AL QAEDA!

Wipes out terrorist enemies, puts people to work (admittedly for a very short period), removes competition from the home labor force and reduces the percentage of obese in the population.

Of course, it will make it much more difficult for the "People of Wal-Mart" photographers.
