Haiti: Let it sink into the sea. What a hell hole.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Namaste.

What in the HELL does that have to do with my question?
If there's one thing I've learned in my lifetime on earth, it's that liberals will avoid answering questions at all cost and then spout some Marxist doctrine in the hopes of diverting the entire topic.

Should they attempt to save Americans first, (assuming they know exactly where they are) or .... first come first served?

That doesn't matter anymore.... The dead, whether they be Americans, Haitians, or the resident of some other country, are being buried in mass graves with no identification... They are simply disappearing... And many who are dying don't have to die..

Time to stop passing the buck here..This is beyond the scope of the Rightwing talking points being spouted about by uneducated idiots like Limbaugh, or liberal wack jobs like Danny Glover..

Nope...

If that happened in Raleigh, I'd make sure my family was taken care of, then I'd start helping my neighbors. I wouldn't put on my best clothes and stand in the street waiting for the TV cameras. I guess maybe as a morning show host you and I would have different priorities though.

I'm curious how I've shown disregard for "anything but [my] own self interest". You're right... the board isn't the real world. Your displays of intelligence here proves you wouldn't make it in the real world.

And how are you posting from Haiti, Bob? Internet still working down there?

Oh yea? I'll bet if your family was trapped, it would matter to you. Or would you say... "oh don't worry about my family, go ahead and help others first"... all the while Haitians armed with only cameras would video what you said for their next documentary.

Assuming they know exactly where they are, it's a no brainer. Americans first, always.

So you're saying you'd do exactly what the vast majority of Haitians are doing. Good for you. You're as good as they are. No better, no worse.

Does anyone get the irony of anybody from WV complaining about Haiti?

I was lucky. While there wasn't any internet from the Murrah building, cell phones were fine until the lines overloaded. Then we had to go with Marti units.

Apparently not. Even New York, during the last black-out, didn't resort to armed gangs feeding on the moment. As a matter of fact, NYPD saw a DECREASE in crime that night.

Haiti, on the other hand, appears to be devolving back to protozoa, if even half of the news accounts are true. And most are still standing around waiting for someone to help them. This should be the exception, not the rule...

Regardless, they're getting help. That's big. How fast it could get there, if the locals were doing the right thing, is a subject we can debate (subjectively) forever.

It's going to be interesting to see them round up the 4000 prisoners that escaped. Murderers and those militants who tried to overthrow the government in the past are re grouping. This pretty much has been the case in Haiti for 100 years. I think it's going to get worse instead of better, unless we're given permission to shoot, of course.

If this was Americans caught in a civil war or something, get them and only them, and get the hell out.

But, considering this was an act of tectonic plates, it has to be first come, first serve. There is no way to distinguish Americans from everyone else anyway when we're talking about recovering tens of thousands of crushed and mangled bodies. There has to be very few survivors at this point.

It appears that our military is primarily responsible for keeping law and order there. How hard would it be to make them a U.S. territory?

Would we even want to?

Why not? We made Detroit a US Territory right?

By the way, there's was some semi famous Haitian (lives in NY) on the news today saying that the entire Haitian population should be removed from the island and scattered to the four corners of the world. He said that all the different nations should make that happen immediately.

And maybe that's why they stand around, instead of helping each other.... they lack a sense of national pride/unity?

Kind of ironic being posted from WV. Hell, we made WV its own state after VA disowned it.
