Come on, now... we should at least hope he has the same health care as congress, or a medicaid/medicare patient, right?

Given his importance to the overall health of the radio industry (not even considering his political viewpoints), I'd have thought y'all would be hoping he gets the best health care his Clear Channel deriven money can buy.

Perfect. Just like Russia. Great illustration of what would be wrong with socialized medicine.DJSHOCKLEY wrote:Here's hopin that he gets the exact same health care and has the exact same health insurance as your average minimum wage worker who is trying to support a family

Let him enter the hospital scared to death he'll have $100K+ in medical expenses when its all over.
Credit bureaus hounding him for months afterward, demanding money he doesn't have.
Thoughts of losing his modest home and everything he worked for his whole life through foreclosure and bankruptcy.
Just because he got older and became ill.
Turn on FauxNews and watch the teabaggers mindlessly standing up for Big Pharma and the Insurance Giants.
Too stupid to understand how they are being used as corporate tools.
Yep, things are great with our current health care system. No need to change anything.
Limbaugh is part of today's Gilded Age.
He has more money than God, so he'll have the best of everything in health care with no financial worries at all.
Unlike the rest of us.

And yet...with all that...when it is time for him to go, go he will.

Re: Rush Limbaugh in Serious Condition at Honolulu Hospital
Well, this post defines the difference between the right and the left. Having gone through the chest pain / stent thing and come out much stronger (and paying 50-out-of-pocket-bucks for the whole experience because I bought additional 100-percent coverage insurance), I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I'm sure Robert Byrd isn't forced to submit to substandard health care. If - no, he's a smoker - WHEN Obama has the same thing happen to him, I hope he gets the best care possible (God help us if Biden takes over). And he should get better health care, just like he has nicer digs and better cars and tastier food, because he's achieved more.
But I don't wish bad things on him. I hope the best for our President, and hope he gets well soon, just like Bill Clinton. But if this mean-spirited health care bill goes through, we'll all have to submit to crappy medicine no matter how hard we work and how well we prepare - just because you're jealous of those who have more than you, or sacrificed to buy adequate insurance.

Well said Dave Harmon. I think hatred for people who are more successful than you is one of the worst of all political motivators. I would like to see everybody in this country have great health care, but, as has been said, the Health Care bill as we see it now is not the way to go about it.
God Bless Us, Every One.

Remember, the GOP said everything was fine the way it was.
Big multi-national corporations were making money hand-over-fist, and the little people were in debt up to their eyeballs.

I don't care where he lives, Dave. I don't care what he drives. But excellent health care shouldn't be something that can only be accessed by the wealthy and well to do. We are the only civilized country on this planet that designed a health care system around the patient's access to a lot of money.

Re: Rush Limbaugh in Serious Condition at Honolulu Hospital
I don't mind financing someone's health care, if they genuinely can't afford it. But the bills they are trying to force through will not limit it to that, and I'm not going to pay for someone's health care who just needs to put his cigarette money toward health insurance. The major problem is not people who can't afford insurance, it's that they aren't willing to do what's necessary to pay for it.Hoosier Daddy wrote:I don't care where he lives, Dave. We should help those who can't help themselves. But we don't need to bring everyone down to a lowest common denominator to do that. I don't see anything wrong with helping the poor get a minimum level of health care, but not those who won't help themselves.

Re: Rush Limbaugh in Serious Condition at Honolulu Hospital
Never mind that it is the premier health care system on the planet.
Health care will always be available in higher quality and quantity to the wealthy.
It is no different in the socialized medicine countries or communist ones.
If you have power or wealth, hop a jet for the Mayo Clinic.
The vast difference is that in the USA, the AVERAGE person has far better care than
in any of the socialized medicine countries. The price is high but the care is there.
Now, the problem seems to be, How would we reduce the cost of health care
in the USA for the low income or destitute people. We could educate more Doctors
and Medical Professionals, open more hospitals and clinics, and institute Tort and insurance reform.
As far as I know none of these solutions are part of the Health Reform bill.
The government position is to throw money at the problem without examining any of the
root causes of that problem. It would take 1/10 of the money the government is going to spend
to solve the problem without the destruction of a successful operating system.
It would, however, take 10 or more years to see results with the plan I have outlined.
Plus, pockets would go unlined.

Well, if he has the same health care plan as me, he's screwed. Because at the moment, mine is "none". Hopefully in the new year I'll be able to afford one.
Of course, this entire episode may just be an attempt on his part to con some Vicodin out of the hospital staff.

Re: Rush Limbaugh in Serious Condition at Honolulu Hospital
If you're interested in perks, you'll find a job that has them. That's exactly why I left radio the first time in 1975. I felt it was up to me, not the government nor anyone else to take care of me. At the time I had a family and felt the responsibility to protect them. Had than not been the case, I would have stayed in radio.
This same argument by the way holds true for people who refuse to leave WV for a better job, and are willing to accept low pay and little if any benefits, and then cry about it.
Remember one thing: There will always be people who can afford better than you. Better food. Better entertainment. Better living conditions. Better health care. If you want those things however, it's up to you to get them, and no one else.
Finally: Health care costs are indeed a travesty. But I place the blame squarely on the backs of lawyers for the most part. If one doctor, hospital, nurse, or drug does anything other than make you all better, you sue. Just like the local lawyer who rounded up the crazy street people here and managed to sue for hundreds of thousands of dollars when in fact most of these street people prefer to eat out of garbage cans. (true).
A doctor is sued if he or she doesnt perform enough tests. Those test can cost a BUNDLE of money, but they are afraid NOT to perform them today because you will sue! You probably dont pay enough into your healthcare plan in one year just to pay for a couple of these tests. But dont forget you're also paying for these tests, and hospital rooms, and doctors, FOR EVERY PERSON WHO HAS NEVER PAID A DIME IN TAXES IN THEIR LIFE.
The real question is (and was never really brought up in Washington) are the lawyers going to have the same payday with the government healthcare as they've had with the private healthcare? If so, that means the taxpayers will be getting screwed from both ends instead of just one.
