1987 WOAY-TV feature on Beckley radio

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

1987 WOAY-TV feature on Beckley radio

Post by Jeff Miller »

I just uploaded to YouTube a 5-part series about Beckley radio WOAY-TV did in 1987. There is also a clip showing the WOAY-TV news intro for one of the five days. Jay Quesenberry provided me with the clips on VHS when they aired. You should be able to see all six clips here:

but if not, here are the individual clips:

Very very interesting, as always.
Got a kick out of seeing George Strange anchoring the news again.

From the looks of it, that could have very well come from 2007.

I guess I have reached the end of my old TV material, as I have just uploaded a sound-only clip. It is WOAY-TV in 1977 reporting on the death of Robert R. Thomas Jr., who was the founder and owner of the station at the time of his death. This is the start of the 11 p.m. news with Arnell Church and Neale Clark. Station manager Bob Brown does a commentary.
