Kill an animal for God. This may solve our Deer problem.
About two weeks ago, hundreds of thousands of animals were slaughtered in the name of religion. Two different "festivals" happened within a few days of each other:
Nepal: Hindus at Festival to Sacrifice 300,000 Animals, Despite Protests

The sacrifice is part of a two-day festival to honor the Hindu goddess Gadhimai, which is held every five years.

Then... there was:
The Muslim festival of sacrifice holiday in Moscow on November 27, 2009. "Eid-al-Adha", the festival of sacrifice, is celebrated by Muslims around the world by slaughtering goats, sheeps, camels and cattle in commemoration of prophet Abraham's readiness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to God.
President Vladimir Putin took the opportunity Sunday to issue another call for tolerance within Russian society.
"This holiday is taking place with the further rebirth of spiritual life of millions of followers of Islam in our country," he said in an address to believers, published by the presidential web site.
In the meantime, the residents of St Petersburg Russia were quite upset with the whole affair. This mass slaughter of animals spurred the wave of complaints among the city’s inhabitants.

OK... it's your religion and your thing, but I cant help to wonder how people in America will deal with this when the time comes.... and it will come.

Where is PETA during all this?

The thing that surprises me about all of this is that I pour over the news every day. I cant recall seeing a word printed in the American Press about this, (if it was, it was so sanitized that you didnt realize what the story was REALLY about) while the European Press covered it extensively, along with photos.
This leads me to believe that (especially) in the case of the Muslims, this was NOT something the American Press wanted to publicize. Or... maybe they were asked not to "for the good of the nation".
So the question remains: Is this allowed here? Was it practiced maybe in secret? I don't know the answer to either of those questions. What would happen say... if 3000 sheep were brought into the neighborhoods of Charleston, Huntington, or any other city we cover and openly slaughtered? Would PETA get involved?

Or maybe we don't care about it?
Do any of you care about it?
Is that the story you think will help circulation or ratings? Would you buy the mag, paper, or watch the channel because of it?
Do you think American media makes decisions on what it will cover based on anything other than ratings/circulation/money?
C'mon, aren't you in this business?
You don't think Fox would have done this story? Or Drudge? Or Rush? If there were any spin value?
As Keyshawn would say, "C'mon now".
Do you think they do a lot of stories in Russia about Kentucky snake handlers?

I don't care about it, and I don't care about PETA.

Snake handlers = possibly hundreds ... numbers droppingBob Campbell wrote:Or maybe we don't care about it?Do you think they do a lot of stories in Russia about Kentucky snake handlers?
Muslims = millions .... numbers increasing
I don't think you're getting my point. Right now this is condoned in other parts of the word. Hell, Russia "leadership" is bending over backwards in support. It's a matter of numbers, and as those number grow, will it finally come to our shores and be demanded to be a part of our culture? As it's a "religious" subject, and given the leeway we allow citizens here to worship pretty much anyway they choose (yes, including snake handling) I cant help but wonder how we will accept this practice in the U.S. As the Muslim religion grows, it's a legitimate question to ask. That's why I care. Believe it or not, the world doesn't completely revolve around the United States anymore.

Here's my 31 cents:
I don't see the attraction to the Muslim religion. I suppose being greeted by millions of buxom, beautiful virgins or whatever when you die might be appealing to some mutant humanoid who can't get a date or pay a hooker enough to hold his hand, but the only way...is Jesus.
Yeah, I said it.
It amazes me more and more people are turning to these weird leaps of faith...like Scientology, or being a Muslim or whatever...just to feel like they belong to some new, or the latest, "coolest" religion. Perhaps they felt like they didn't belong anywhere else, perhaps they got burned by people who claim to be Christian but turned out to be the devil incarnate, and I can sympathize with that...because these days, there are more and more people who are just...evil, anymore.
I am far from a Christian, but sometimes I find solace in just reading my Bible in the comfort and the quietness of my own home...and sometimes, that is best. Look...I have found that more people who go to church are more worried about their social circles, or what outfit is best, or the gossip and drama...than prayer and worship. I have heard it said, don't worry about the people, the church is what matters, and that's true...however, we are all human, and my humanity would rather find peace in a passage of Scripture at home than overhearing what some heifer in the pew beside me thinks of someone else.
No one truly knows why we're here or what happened before we were here, but for my money...I'd take Jesus over John Travolta or Mohammad any day.

Breeze, I think I got your point, but we seem to have two different ones.
Your post seemed to imply some sort of concerted effort by the US press to not cover that story, a coverup or conspiracy.
Mine was simply that the press make decisions based only on ratings and circulation. If they thought people would watch/read, they'd have been right on it.
Now if Tiger Woods sacrifices a goat.....

OK, understand.
So the Press is willing to wait until the lion is at our door and the Ratings improve before they're willing to cover a story that might affect the way we live. Got it.

Pretty much. But hey, that story is WAY down the list of things that might affect the way we live. I find it hard to worry that we'll become a nation of animal sacrificers. I can't believe that's in the top 500 of our worries.CoolBreeze wrote:OK, understand.

I cant believe we've become a nation where men marry men either.Bob Campbell wrote: I find it hard to worry that we'll become a nation of animal sacrificers.
I cant believe we've become a nation where it's not uncommon for 12 and 13 year olds to be drug addicts.
I cant believe we've become a nation where the more perverted it is, the better it is.
I cant believe we've become a nation where having a father as head of the family is looked down upon.
I cant believe we've become a nation where the more crooked you are, the more you're respected.
I cant believe we've become a nation where we sacrifice millions of unborn babies.
So why shouldnt we sacrifice animals?

Bob can tote the company line all he wants, but the simple fact of the matter is: Christian news is fair game, Muslim news gets covered up. On that shifty, lie-ridden Fox News dared to run a segment on honor killings... which are happening here in the U.S., and not covered in the media.
Animal sacrifice is happening here as well, put Peta being the well-funded LIBERAL organization it is, only addresses it locally... where it is happening. They don't push it out on a national scale... Until enough RADICAL muslims show up, and start sufficiently suppressing the rights of women, none of the leftists are going to say a word. And by then they'll be so outnumbered, they won't live long enough to do anything about it.

Actually, I've seen stories on Honor killings in the past few years on every major network, cable and Newsweek. EVERYBODY covered those stories. It's been done for years.Lester wrote:Bob can tote the company line all he wants, but the simple fact of the matter is: Christian news is fair game, Muslim news gets covered up. NOBODY gives a rat's ass about somebody in Russia sacrificing animals. I have slightly less fear about that than I do about getting hit by a meteor today.

It does indicate that PETA is a purely political group.
An anti-american political group that aims to disrupt the economy as much as possible.
If they truly cared, they would have been on the first plane to Moscow.
