DONALD "TOM" WAGNER, 53, of Hurricane, W.Va., formerly of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, in the Hubbard Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio, by Chaplain Homer Fink. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Hall Funeral Home.
Tom was born Feb. 9, 1956, in Huntington, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Wagner. Tom was a retired lieutenant with the South Charleston Police Department, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and was a disc jockey with WTCR, WKLC, WGNT/WAMX, and WCAW.
He is survived by his mother, Eloise Wagner of Proctorville, Ohio; wife, Beth Hatfield Wagner; son, Nicholas Wagner of Hurricane, W.Va.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Barbara Hatfield of Hurricane; and numerous special friends. So sorry to hear of this. He worked at WKLC during my time there. Very nice, funny guy. He and Emma were very close buddies, but she severed the relationship when he became a cop. (typical Emma) My regards to his family.
I worked with him as well. Just a really decent guy. Funny, likeable, great voice, always helpful, a true team player. So sorry to hear this. 53 is way too young to die.
