WOTR

Anyone know what the story is with WOTR in Lost Creek? I thought it was on several months ago with the new ownership and positive country format, but it seems as if it has gone dark ???

Steve Peters owns the thing. He's also the owner of WHAW in Weston. Give him a call. He's a nice guy, and he'll talk (and talk, and talk) to you about it!

From what I have read on the FCC site, WOTR will be moving to Weston and WHAW will be moving to Lost Creek. That might be happening now. Just a guess.

I have noticed that 980 doesn't seem as strong as they were with their recent power increase. A few months ago I could pick them up clearly around Fairmont. Now they are scratchy in Clarksburg. On the other hand, WVUS 1190 seems to be coming in better all down I-79 from Motown to Clarksburg.

From what I understand, 980's MW-50 is broke. Hence no signal much north of Clarksburg.

The city of license exchange is based on 980's 25 kw, which provides a 5 mv over Lost Creek. WOTR has a construction permit to move to a site west of Weston.

WVUS has a new ground system, new tuning unit and a new 5KW Harris transmitter could be the reason.

They were on last night around 6:00pm as I drove through Fairmont. Legal ID was "WOTR, Weston-Lost Creek".

Lots of testing being done. Left channel only, right channel only, phasing stuff and the ID was buried underneath whatever else was going on. Signal sounded strong, though...
