Such Disgrace

Post by lastone »

Robert C. Byrd is now the longest seated member of the Senate. This is just another disgrace to West Virginia. Yes, I have met the man and I do like his stand for the Constitution. But, for a long time resident of Virginia to be West Virginia's exaulted Senator gets my goat! He hasn't been a West Virginian in decades!

The next goal. To be the only Senator to die in his Senate seat. WV will then have hem stuffed and encapsulated in the seat and displayed in the rotunda in Charleston. And then will rename Morgantown to Byrdville.

You do realize that whoever gets his seat after he passes will be there for another 50 years...

It's just the way things are 'round here.

The thing I always found interesting is that 95% (my figure) of ALL famous "West Virginians" living or dead weren't born in WV.

Just a few examples include Byrd, Soupy Sales, Jennifer Garner.

This means that the gene pool here is so polluted, that it's easier to find someone from the outside, bring them here when very young, raise them as "West Virginians" and the rest is popular history. :)

I think it should be me. I tried to get Governor Manchin to commit to appointing me if and when our esteemed Senator goes to be with his beloved wife. For some reason the governor thought I was doing a funny bit. I can see why he thought that. Anyone who listens to my show as often as Governor Manchin is going to think I'm always doing a funny bit. I wasn't. There is no West Virginian better for the job than I am. The only hitch would be winning my first election when my appointment terms ends. I won't have the money necessary to defend against challengers, but I figure I will have raised enough hell in Washington, here at home, and on the national stage to be so beloved by my fellow West Virginians I won't need money.

You guys know I'm right about this. I should be the junior senator from the great state of West Virginia. You know I'm right. Admit it.

I will support Senator Jay Nunley as the Honorable Congressman from West Virginia's double-naught district.
Wait a minute. We would then have TWO senators that go by the name of JAY.
Probably unconstitutional. Big Jay, Little Jay. Broadway Jay, Cow Creek Jay.

I tried the same tactic with Gov. Caperton when I was in Charleston Jay. While I got more of a positive response (sort of), I just don't think Byrd is ever going to pass. I mean, this was 17 years ago and I figured he was only minutes away from it then. He may just be immortal.

You guys are wrong about Senator Byrd (except for the corpse thing). I saw him at a rally with Senator Rockefeller, Congressman Rahall, Governor Manchin, and then Senator Biden (along with a couple of coal industry dignitaries) last year. I felt bad for for Senator Byrd and at the same time was inspired by his dedication.

By the way, as I continue to build support for appointing me to the Senate you should know my plan.

I will vote "Nay" on every bill. Not just most of them. All of them. I will vote against every single item that hits the senate floor. I won't even bother finding out what is contained in the bills. I will never miss a vote and it will always be a no vote.

I will spend all of my floor time speechifying about whatever I want without consideration to what is being debated. I will throw the first lobbyist that comes to me out on the street, literally. I will grab this person by the scruff and belt and physically deposit them onto the street. I will take campaign money from anyone, agree to vote their way, and then still vote "no." I will take meetings with other beltway dwellers of every stripe and office and agree to do what they want in exchange for politcal favors and then still vote "no." I will do this in full view of everyone and the media. I will accept any and all interview requests and I will say exactly what I think without regard to political consequences. In fact, I will use language that is guaranteed to bring on the full boat of political consequences. I will be coarse, divisive, incendiary, and undiplomatic. If a reporter or a citizen asks me a stupid question I will say it is a stupid question and then also insult them one way or another. During my re-election campaigns I will verbally abuse my opponents, the media, and voters.

I will do this on purpose.

That's it. That's the plan.

Will you go on O'Reilly?

Laugh it up, Jay. You, me and everybody else knows Manchin is practically drooling for Byrd's demise so he can appoint himself Senator, which as someone noted, in this state is more properly Sentor-For-Life.

Don't act crazy, genlock, neither Rockefller nor Byrd have campaigned for anything since the 1970's.

I'm getting pissed off again.

I've been thinking about this.... I'm looking for Sarah Palin to buy a house here in the Wild & Wonderful. Good enough for carpetbagging Jay Rockefeller, why not Palin? Can you imagine Rockefeller trying to ride herd on Palin in the Senate? Jay's worst nightmare since he realized the Clintons wiped out his life-long pursuit of the Executive Mansion. When's the next Senate elecion for WVa? Run, Palin, Run!

2012.

She should simultaneously run for president and senator for six different states.

No way. It's supposed to be me, not Palin. C'mon! Get on board! You know I'll be a better senator. Plus, I'll be both make history AND be funny at the same time.

Let me sweeten the pot.

In addition to all the things stated above I will also introduce a new bill every day (of course I will have to vote "no" on them if they ever get to a vote).

These bills will range from a law prohibiting white males over the age of 12 wearing their baseball hats backwards to declaring a national holiday in honor of women who enthusiastically and skillfully perform oral sex (because these women have done more to improve the quality of life than any other group of people). I'm thinking June 15th should be "Blow Job Day."
