Escape from WV Media Holdings

Post by genlock »

local TV news anchor has been named Concord University’s new advancement development officer.

Alicia Suka Besenyei, who co-anchors the evening news for local CBS affiliate WVNS, and previously anchored the evening news for WVVA in Bluefield, will assume her new role Dec. 1, according to Greg Quick, interim vice president for advancement at Concord.

“I believe Alicia will be a dynamic addition to our advancement team,” Quick said. “Her passion for building relationships and professionalism will be well suited to contributing to Concord University’s future.”

Besenyei says she is excited about her new position and believes her media experience will be an asset.

“I’ve always envisioned myself moving into a role that allows me to build on the skills I’ve learned in the news business,” Besenyei said.

Wow, that's a shame. She's an excellent anchor, and she and Martin do a really good job.
America is at that awkward stage.
It is too late to work within the system,
but too early to shoot the bastards.

My 33 year-old friend, who refuses to grow up, went to the concert. He was telling me how he lost his voice and how "shit-faced" he and his girl got. When I asked him how the show was, he said it was "ok, I guess, but I am not really a fan of that kind of music." :?

It was an unusual mix of people in the audience. I rarely go to pop concerts, so the mix of young, old, style, and type may be the normal thing.

Cavo is a legitimate band and were surprisingly good. They were impressive (and I don't get inpressed because most music sucks and most live shows suck no matter what the forgiving concert atmoshpere ears most people employ say they're hearing ).

Theory Of A Deadman is just another product of studio magic. They are one of the better douche rock bands (if the word "better" can apply to any douche rock band). Douche rock is the new designation for what us dinosaurs used to call corporate rock (e.g. Journey, Foreigner). TOAD has some good songs (better than most other douche rock bands like Nickelback and 3 Doors Down) but, they can't get it done at a live show. They need studio magic.

I was surprised by how "universal" a few of their songs were including "Bad Girlfriend" and "Hate My Life". Trust me, I pay a lot of attention to audience familiarity and passion for specific songs. Somebody tell me a better way to do music research for free. Watching a 14 year old girl and her fanny pack wearing, douchebag father sing along at the top of their lungs to "Hate My Life" (curse words and all) and then high five each other at the end is the single most clarifying event I've seen in awhile. Our culture is doomed.

Chris Daughtry was awful. There was not one single redeeming thing about any of it. It was truly terrible in every way. This is true even with the automatic 30% performance forgiveness I give any band playing in that big orange box of accoustic nightmares.

Most douche rock in terms of an album will usually sound universally sickening, Theory of a deadman, nickelback, and godsmack are just a few that pop immediately into my mind.
Doesn't MSNBC stand for the Media that Spins the News for Barrack's Cabinet?
