Happy Veteran's Day!

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Happy Veteran's Day!

Post by Rock »

To all of our brothers and sisters who've honorably and proudly served in the Armed Forces, my heartfelt thanks to all of you. Enjoy the day. *snappy salute* 8)

Indeed, may your service be remembered, not just on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, but every day. You do us all proud, and it is because of you we enjoy the freedoms we do.

And for those who died in service to our Nation, please remember...

In 1918-19, the allied powers were very sick of war and wanted to bring the troops home and disarm. They did.
Today we would call this an exit strategy. Everyone turned inward.
Germany was left to fester in its ruin and the belief that they were not defeated but betrayed.
The treaty that was signed had no teeth because the allies had disarmed and wanted nothing to do with Germany.
Marshall Foch of France was not happy, Foch considered the Treaty of Versailles to be "a capitulation, a treason"
because he believed that only permanent occupation of the Rhineland would grant France sufficient security against
a revival of German aggression. As the treaty was being signed Foch said: "This is not peace. It is an armistice for 20 years".
I think he was off less than 90 days.

That war and the Vietnam war were out two wars with an "exit strategy". The continue to cost us everyday
After WW2 we never left Germany, Italy and Japan. We are still in Korea and Cuba.
The Yankees have bases in Georgia and Texas and the Indians are kept in check by bases in Oklahoma and Arizona.
I think we messed up badly by allowing Iraq to write their own Constitution.
Douglas MacArthur wrote Japan's post-war constitution and they seem to love it.
He is a national hero there. He empowered the powerless and outlawed war as a means of conflict resolution.
Aside from periodic visits from atomic mutant monsters, they have no need for a military.
We never should have returned Okinawa to Japan, It cost too much.

Exit strategies are an invitation for enemies to wait for US to turn our back on them.

It is because of the veteran, not the politician, we have to right to vote.
It is because of the veteran, not the lawyer, we have the right to due process and a fair trial.
It is because of the veteran, not the poet, we enjoy the freedom of speech.
And because of the veteran, we are ALL free to worship as we choose.

Thank you, Veterans.
