Money -- not common sense, and certainly not what's right for America -- will win the Health Care debate.
Just as it did with NAFTA and Telcom 1996.
Look for the insurance companies, Big Pharma, and the tort lawyers to come out richer than ever.

Ain't it the truth. The rich Democratic contributors will be happy, the country will be way closer to economic collapse, government power will be increased by an order of magnitude, Obama will be smiling like Enzyte Bob. The only people that will lose out is the regular working Joe, who will be FORCED, mind you, to participate in Obama's scheme, for whom insurance premiums will be higher, for whose parents' Medicare will be cut, whose Constitutional rights will be instantly diluted. Nobody is really helped. Karl Marx is smiling somewhere (but he's still in Hell.)
What a shame we just can't write a bill that fixes the problem without having to take care of all the greedy, power hungry vulture bastards that make huge amounts of money off of other people's illness, injury, and death. The system is broken now -- an undeniable truth. My fear is that all the political fingers in the pie will now give us a partial fix on many of today's problems but create a new list of problems we never had before.

No ... I think the bill started out as a genuine attempt to fix a bunch of problems. Obama screwed up by not railroading a strong plan through both houses while the iron was hot, so to speak. Obama can be too gentlemanly and disciplined, as if the GOP shit sticks actually want to cooperate with him and play by the rules. They don't -- the Republicans are engaged in a Karl Rove style take-no-prisoners war against the President and they'll stop at nothing to totally and completely ruin him. Maybe I'm wrong, but Obama just doesn't seem to get it.
I have lost a lot of faith in our ability as a country to override the power elite for the good of the common citizen. In all honesty, fixing health care won't be a one time legislative shot, and I realize that. It may take 10 years of tweaking (if we were free of the business and political power grabs) to truly fix the problem. I feel like we'll eventually get something called "The 2010 Health Care Reform Act" passed into law, but it won't have nearly enough teeth to fix the things that need fixed and it'll be bloated with heavily lobbied payoffs and political treats, as seems to be the course with everything these days. And Obama will sign it just so he can say "I passed Health Care Reform during my first term".
