WSAZ News Director Named

WSAZ Huntington, W.Va. (DMA 63) President and General Manager Don Ray announced the promotion of Managing Editor Grover Tadlock to news director effective at the Gray NBC affiliate, effective immediately.

Tadlock is 1985 graduate of Marshall University with a degree in broadcast journalism.


He began his career with WSAZ as a photographer in 1997. He was promoted to director of photography in 2005 and managing editor in 2007.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity to take on a new challenge at WSAZ. Although I've been here for 15 years and have seen many changes in how we cover news, the one thing that has remained constant is the quality of the people at WSAZ. I'm privileged to work with some of the most talented people in the business which will make my job that much easier."

In radio, if your real name was Grover Tadlock, the PD would make you change it to "Johnny Williams".

WSAZ started their 11:00pm newscast with the shooting story and wowk started with the weather then going to another story from Charleston. i don't know if they ever carried the story as I quit switching back and forth. I guess Bray didn't think the shooting killing 13 people was more important than the weather. I wonder why the news media is playing down the defeat of the democrats that ran Tuesday. i guess they don't want to upset obama??
