The original "Rush Radio" was 99.5 WRNO in New Orleans. This was another heritage rocker before it flipped. RNO stands for "Rock of New Orleans".
It's been years since they flipped, but they kept the original calls.
They are consistently in the Top 5, competing with WWL, which also simulcasts on FM.
As for Charleston, WCHS needs to get on FM before somebody beats them to it...

Excellent use of artistic foreshadowing, ampednow.

Indeed. While 580 gives excellent coverage (I can pick it up in Huntington most of the time), people seldom make it over to the AM band. I wonder how much success Cameron and Company will have with the FM simulcast of 930. I can't imagine it hurting their number and they are bound to pick up a few new listeners who otherwise, would have never knew 930 existed.AmpedNow wrote:As for Charleston, WCHS needs to get on FM before somebody beats them to it...

Despite the hue and cry from the demographic that remembers hearing classical music on 570 kHz around here, WTOP's move to FM was the key to them burying WMAL. During the time that 'TOP was available on 107.7 and 1500, the diary numbers for the AM were small compared to the FM, despite the FM's location in Warrenton, VA. I've wondered if PPMs would have shown such a mass migration, but the results are not in dispute.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

Doesn't MSNBC stand for the Media that Spins the News for Barrack's Cabinet?
