West Virginia Public Broadcasting has an immediate opening for an experienced journalist with story-telling ability and a track record in broadcast news. The News Director is the supervisory journalist responsible for the daily news and public affairs content and the overall news product of West Virginia Public Broadcasting.



DUTIES include overseeing the operation of an extensive bureau system; supervising a professional reporting staff; developing local content goals and establishing the most efficient use of individuals and equipment to best serve the West Virginia audience.

QUALIFICATIONS: Good writing and editing skills are important. Open and enthusiastic management style is a must. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field, a minimum of three years in a supervisory position in broadcasting, journalism or related field.

Depending on experience and BS quotient.

Incredibly, management just wants the news director to do SOMETHING.
I don't think there is much interference, except when there is something stupid at hand.
Give it a try, what's to lose?

Wasn't this job just filled last year? I wonder what happened to the person who was hired (hint, hint...post what happened). Also, I know it's a tv news director job, but would they consider someone with a strong radio news background? Probably not, but with so many of us looking over our shoulder, it never hurts to ask for other people's opinions.

Mostly a radio news director job.
Don't know what happened to the last guy.
He was a newspaper type. Maybe returned to that.
