Re: Soupy Sales Has Died
I lived in Detroit in the mid 50s and Soupy live just blocks from us. I never met him in person however. The thing I remember was how great the show was in Detroit, as compared to the New York show when he went national. The Detroit show was much more "Soupy" than anything that came later. New York was stiff and over polished, with professional writers that couldnt hold a candle to what Soupy and the guys were doing in Detroit. It was more.... "New York", and lost the wonderful spontaneity that I'll never forget.

Even out of character and in person, Soupy was an extremely high-energy guy.
Met him about 25 years ago and he looked old then.

Re: Soupy Sales Has Died
I thought he died years ago.
I remember doing remotes from Soupy Sales Plazza in front of The Big Sandy Superstore Civic Arena. 10 to 15 seconds of every remote break were devoted to saying "Soupy Sales Plaza in front of The Big Sandy Superstore Civic Arena."

I hear he died after a long battle with Chronic Meringue Asphixia.

The Stern-Imus-Wolfman Jack connection.

I've heard Howard talk about Soupy a lot over the years. Couldn't quite figure out if he loved him or hated him...

I got to listen to WNBC a few times when they had that lineup. Absolutely wild. Imus followed by Soupy followed by Stern. Wow.
