GM still hasnt gotten the message

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

GM still hasnt gotten the message

Post by CoolBreeze »

WE should have known better than to trust GM with our bailout money. They still haven't got the message:

Image
This ad appears in our local newspaper.

Tell me... who is their right mind would pay FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for a CAMARO? Who would drive around town with a sign around his or her neck that said: "LOOK AT ME..I'M THE WORLDS BIGGEST DUMBASS".

THINK about the kinds of cars that you can purchase for that money! Think about styling! Think about the fact that after one year, the Camaro will look just as outdated as yesterdays purple colored cars!

General Motors doesn't have a CLUE, and they rightfully deserve to go down in flames if they continue to produce high dollar crap like this, especially in THIS economy.

Just found it and gonna throw it here... its a "tech class" video from chrysler, the first half with the old scientist is kinda goofy, but the end with the actual host is where I laughed the most, I love the "if its above 10 replace the unit, if below, run 'x' amount of tests which do nothing but increase billable hours for the service department, then tell the customer theres too much fuel in the lines and that its normal." It's crap like this that has killed these companies....

I like the new Camero, but I would opt for an Acura TL, or a Lexus IS 350, if I was looking in that price range. Sporty luxury over brute speed, any day.

However, I wonder how much of this price is dealer markup... I've seen them go 3-5k over invoice. I seen a Challenger last year when it was in limited production with a $25k markup over invoice, bringing the total price to $66k.

I wouldn't buy from any dealership that blatantly does this. All they're doing is "moving the goalposts" to guarantee themselves a big profit while the poor sap thinks he's getting a deal by talking them down to the actual invoice price. I know times are tough, but there's no sense in ripping off your customers like this...

The only way I would own a new Camero is if I ever had enough money to afford a "weekend" car. Even then, it's not worth that price...

There was an hour documentary on NatGeo last night about the Camaro's construction. The assembly-line techniques looked more like a BMW/Mercedes line that what I envisioned a GM line to look like.

The car pictured? Made in Oshawa, Ontario, CANADA. Standard engine? Made in Mexico. Upgrade engine? Made in Australia. Car designed? 100% by Holden (that is Australian for Chevy) in Australia.

No thanks. I will take American quality. A union free Toyota.

Man, you are all over the proverbial road. I can't make out what exactly you are against, lest it be people who don't drive the same car as you.

It's all about the Free Market. Allowing companies to fail on their own accord, just like Packard, Studebaker and a hundred others. It's about using my and my grandchildrens money to prop up a company who hasn't learned a damned thing yet, and will fail "again" at this rate.

Better check your marching orders, Coolbreeze, lefties are supposed to be for the socialization of the new Government Motors. But good on you - I agree, we should never have given them a dime, they should be six feet under, the government shouldn't get involved, the whole thing in a travesty so far removed from the spirit and letter of the Constitution that one car hardley imagine that we've allowed the government this degree of freedom in redistibuting money from it's rightful owners to those who are more politically useful.

Hahah... well, you're not to far from wrong. I dont know what happened to "my" Americans. They got fat and lazy and only watched sports on TV. They allowed the Left (and the PHONY Right) to run clear over top of them. They saw that no one was listening anymore and simply gave up. What happens next is going to be VERY interesting. The stock market crash of 29 will look like happy days before this is all over and people get back to business.

Spoken like a man who never studied the stock market crash of '29. We're nowhere near there, have not been near that, and have already hit the bottom as far as stocks. You may have noticed the market over 10,000 last week. Six more months then employment will start to rise, 2 more years before we're back to where we were before the crash of '08.
Don't worry Breeze, MY Americans will do okay. By the way, I love Your Americans too, I just dont' agree with them.

Did I say we were near the crash of 29? No? Then why did you insinuate that I did?

I hope the stock market climbs to new levels. Why? That means that stupid Americans are back to the same old business of living on credit cards instead of savings or cash. That means that not ONLY will we load up again on payments we cant make or afford, but that the nasty old "bailout" money that will run in the trillions will also be on our shoulders as debt. Yea... I hope the stock market makes another phony run.
