Chicago: No Olympics

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Chicago: No Olympics

Post by Jet Black »

Despite the presence of President & Mrs. New Messiah, it's been decided - No Olympics for Chicago! Damned Racist Danes! In unrelated news, Rahm Emmanual (sp. - don't bother me) has announced a new health tax on rich Olympic committee members and athletes who don't pay their fair share.

I can't say I'm disappointed to see them going elsewhere. I'm kinda tired of the hoopla over a bunch of invented events that sometimes make no sense. Who wants to see field marshals with twirlers get medals? The summer games don't interest me at all -- I'm one of the 13 Americans who didn't give a rat's ass about Michael Phelps and his carefully crafted schedule designed to get him the 8689688971324089708672087091873208746019875098162348701897234134 medals. I do like the winter games, but I like skiing and such things.

Wait a minute. This makes it look like you don't like President Obama. From all your other posts I thought you were a big fan. Boy, did I read that wrong.

Normally a politician would not do a high-profile jaunt like this without assurances that it would turn out positively.
I suspect President Obama has been reading his own publicity or listening to his own cheerleaders.
It was a poor showing for the president and for the USA to not get the Olympics.
After all, the world was supposed to love us so much more with a weak administration in Washington.

And what does this say for the Japanese Prime Minister, who was also there? And the Prime Minister of Spain? And the Spanish King? Damn, maybe they were all starting to believe their press clippings.
There is talk that the Olympic Committe felt snubbed by Obama because he didn't spend as much time there as the other heads of state.
First South American Olympics got them the nod. The scandals of the last American Olympics didn't help, though there is also a lot of talk that the US got hosed by the Asian nations voting as a bloc in the first round, even though the last Olympics was in Asia. Apparently the Brazilian President made a very impassioned presentation.
Mark it down, if you want to get an Olympics from now on, your head of state will have to appear.

Good conclusion, Bob; It didn't work this time, therefore we should do the same thing next time. Hey, no biggy - it only cost the US taxpayer a short $1M for the New Messiah to go over there. Hey, $1M is only 1/100th of 1% of a Trillion.

If they wanted action they should have sent Chicago's REAL leading citizen - Al Bundy.

A rapidly-industrializing country that has become almost entirely energy independent and can tell OPEC to go fly a kite all they want deserves the Olympics.

By 2016, Brazil will probably be richer than the U.S., thanks to all of the bountiful sugar-ethanol exports because nobody can afford $700 per barrel oil prices.

Good for them.

Go easy, Jet... at least Bob didn't try to blame Bush for it.

One of Chicago's better kids got beat to death just as the hypemobile was pulling out of town... did anyone expect anything else?

I wonder if all the countries outside of the U.S. said "What's an Oprah?" when she showed up?

I think the President should have been there... and I think the right should also give him just as much grief for it as the leftists would have given Bush for doing the same thing.

And YAY for Rio... for all the reasons AmpedNow mentioned. President Obama has spent considerable time preaching to the world that America just ain't that great... I'm glad to see all the speeches paid off.

You people kill me.
If Ronald Reagan went to bat for getting the Olympics held in an American city,
you'd be masturbating all over yourselves and screaming "atta boy, Gipper!"

Proof positive that everything you guys see is through the lens of a blinding hatred for Obama.

The Republican Party is no longer a political party. It’s a mindset, like Hitler's Brownshirt youth.
They feed on hatred: religious hatred, racial hatred, and intolerance.
And on fear: Scared to death because the world is changing.
When foreigners hear the word 'conservative', they think of kindly old men hunting foxes.
They’re not. They’re psychotic fascists.

Hoosier, did you ever notice that most of your arguments are comprised of you imagining things that Conservatives never did and then berating them for it? No wonder you hate Fox News too, for saying wrong things that you can never identify.

In California, even Obama could only have one chicken.

Is there any truth to the rumor that when the First Lady was trying to get the Olympics, Kanye tried to steal the mike and say that Beyonce would have done a better job?

At least Hoosier Daddy did not claim that the Japanese, Spaniards and Brazilians were racist for
attempting to get the Olympics for their country and defying President Obama and Oprah.
I expected it tho, as that is a favorite chant for the left.

Michelle Obama's "I have a dream " speech didn't cut it.

She talked about her late father, Fraser Robinson, a sports fanatic who suffered from multiple sclerosis.
"Some of my best memories are sitting on my dad's lap, cheering on Olga and Nadia, Carl Lewis, and others for their brilliance and perfection. Like so many young people, I was inspired. I found myself dreaming that maybe, just maybe, if I worked hard enough, I too could achieve something great. But I never dreamed that the Olympic flame might one day light up lives in my neighborhood."

Really.... did she think that old Jessee Jackson pandering speech would cut it in Europe?

My point exactly, just a different angle.

I do believe I said I thought he should be there... and I said the right wing should bitch about it just as much as the leftists would if the tables were turned...

I'm sorry the Presidents efforts disappointed you... but don't take it out on me.
