Sundays Doonesbury cartoon?

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Sundays Doonesbury cartoon?

Post by CoolBreeze »

Sunday morning as I read "Doonesbury", I thought "wow, that's really pushing it". The Jews would denounce him for belittling the Holocaust.... The Right Wing Nuts wouldn't understand that Trudeau was actually making fun of THEM (and not of Obama) and last but not least..... turns out two panels were missing!

All across the country, some newspapers elected to drop the first two panels of the strip, which provide the structure for the closing panel and make it satirical. Was there a reason for this? Maybe just a HUGE mixup?

Here's how the strip was SUPPOSED to read....

Now... remove the first two panels and re read it. This is what the Charleston Gazette (and many others) printed.

Doesn't MSNBC stand for the Media that Spins the News for Barrack's Cabinet?

Winston Salem Journal ran without the first two panels. I think the first two reinforce it, but I didn't have any trouble understanding it without them. Trudeau rocks.

Removing those frames dramatically changes the political slant.

However, maybe the less politically-inclined editors seen them as redundant.

Aren't those two just the "disposable" panels? Some Sunday strips have panels that can be cropped out depending on space. Most of the time they are just the strip name though.
