One Big Ass Concert

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Can't wait to see how Billy Joe and Junebug react to getting turned away from "the big doins". By the way as someone who lives here let me tell you the last names that will be represented well...

Adkins, Bryant, Marcum, Ellis, Baisden, Cline (Mingo County only), Perry, Blankenship, Cook (Wyoming County only), Evans and Fry.

100,000 tickets given out, 90 cops will provide security.
Most locals would rather sneak in anyway.
Unknown number of porto-potties available, real mountaineer will just use the woods.
No alcohol or pets allowed, no word on guns or drugs.
Tanker of drinking water dispatched from Huntington.
It may rain, not to worry cause everyone has four-wheel drive.
I assume they have established LZ's for medivac. Trauma team on site?

I have a feeling that this will be quite a show...

...not forgetting about the people actually getting on stage.

I think they'd be wrong, (depending on how they're using that term) because as one of the founders of Bridge Day, we've had over 200,000 within a 6 hour period several times.

That's one they're telling us, but I have a feeling you may be right. All I know we're going to be be amongst the great unwashed from 6:30 am till 8:30 pm. They are telling us they are expecting 15 to 20 mile traffic backups in all directions.

Whatever happened to the days when people just cooked out for Labor Day?

Talking with officials today the main problem seems to be the access in and out. The numbers aren't that big of a problem..the area according to those in charge could actually hold somewhere around 300,000 if needed. There is still only a two lane road in and out. They have done a good job of securing the area around the site making sure no one enters via the mountains. Sorry, but Nunley's mom won't be allowed to ride in on a goat like she had planned. There is supposed to be an area set up just for radio stations doing remotes, which from what I gather will be several.

A camping trailer dealer has set-up already and several radio people are spending the night tonight.

Also, a satellite truck is in place to beam the entire event from start to finish to anyone who wants it. This should offer the CNNs and Fox's plenty of footage for news, especially if fights break out with protesters or porta-potty hogs.

Speaking of which, I talked to one of the protesters yesterday. She's concerned about the location of the "Protesters Pen". She's afraid their protest might not be effective near the back of the crowd. I told her not to worry, as the audience near the back will soon get tired of straining their necks to see the stage and will most likely turn their attention to the protesters as a result.
