One Big Ass Concert

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Somehow, this reminds me of the South Park episode where the Confederate reenactors get drunk and head for DC to take back the country.

I have it on good authority that I get to be the one to pick Thatcher up at the airport and to take her to Morrison's for onion rings and beer.

Yes, this is a Massey deal....with some other folks, too. The concert is free but you have to register on-line to get tickets first. I can just see Wal-mart being flooded tonite with Junebug and Billy going to get one of them there computer thingys.

There is a massive wood plant up there..employees about 500 people...on re-claimed mountaintop removal site. That's the reason it is being held there. Buck Harless, I doubt, will have anything to do with it.

I think Buck Harless owns the massive wood plant.

May be Cole & Crane land.

Buck used to own it...doesn't now. I think WV Media owns it now. WSAZ has the full press release on their website. I would have posted it here but this is my beer and porn time before the wife gets home.

If it is Gilco, Buck still has it. (wikipedia)

If it is profitable, WV Media wouldn't own it.

Do I not remember an INS problem at the old flooring factory? This was two or three years ago, I think. The operator was hiring Mexicans and only Mexicans of which some were illegal. There was talk of putting some in the mines as well. I thought it was reported at the time that Harless had sold it.

There are no "crooks" in Southern West Virginia. Only entrepreneurs and politicians.

I presume Mr. Peabody's Coaltrain will not be played. (I know, that's not the real title.)

Margaret Thatcher? What am I missing here?

from what I've gathered the site they're having it on didnt have any streams to cover when it was mined.... but maybe they'll dig one so we can see how they fill them at the event...

"Paradise", 1971: By John Prine is the song.

Many sang it. Lynn Anderson recorded it in the 70's and was sued by Peabody over it. It was my understanding it could not be publicly sang again....ever. Unpublished as it were.

Yeah. Well, no need to worry that a song like that will ever come out of Nashville again. Not that John Prine was ever loved down there. More likely a dance remix of Achy-Breaky Heart.

Hank Jr.'s gone soft in his old age, but he's still a hoot. Can Nunley get me tix? What does one wear to a strip-mine park concert?

Camouflage and denim.

For guys, you can get it at Tractor Supply.

For the gals, depending on their size, Fashion Bug or Lane Bryant.

Don't go there. Womens' underwear and other garments are not my thing but I do hear a lot about this stuff.

Tractor Supply is my favorite store. They have a whole display of welding machines. And another with winches for the truck and the four wheeler.

How about those 'Skins? Think the Eagles with all the injuries in camp can kick their ass on the gridiron?

That just burns my nads. Just wait till a high pressure gas line self excavates like Columbia's SMAK transmission line in the 1980's. I still blame that bi+th Abbot along with idiot Richard CEO for selling out the integrity of Columbia Gas when they dumped the carcass of a one great company that they stripped of everything for cash so they could dump it on NiSource and run away with the money.

Even as a manager of a rigging company in Philly, I had enough sense for my critical work to pay a little more money and hire Puerto Ricans and have the job done properly. Mexicans are good for food service industry, but for the critical work, you had better move up scale to someone that has basic math skills. Sheesh.
