Kill Internet Explorer 6

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

How many of the users on the board still surf with IE6?

75% of networked business apps still require IE6 to operate properly. IE6 will not die as long as corporate IT departments do not demand applications that leverage the highest levels of security available in newer browsers.

Although, I saw some light at the end of the tunnel when I noticed that Java has settings that now let business application to run in tabbed browsers. Considering that I saw this with the latest upgrade level of ADP Enterprise, that means the functionality has been around in mainstream for 12-18 months.

ADP is probably the most strange of the companies that I have used services from considering that most of their technology is written to only function on IE6 (and limited IE7) and not Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera. Of course, ADP tech is not "Vista Compliant" and I am in huge fear of trying to run the programs I can access from my personal computer through Windows 7 (unless in XP Mode with IE6).

I just checked the analytics of our website and 18% of IE users showed up as having IE6, 21% had IE8 and 60% had IE7...

It means IT guys in the real world (outside of Redmond) can't make IE7 & 8 work.

I'm pretty happy with Safari. There's very little that I need to do, but can't. The rest is usually taken care of by firefox.

I have always tried to avoid IE, whenever possible.
Back in the early days of this internet thingy, I used Netscape....... from there mozilla, firefox, and most recently I have taken a liking to Opera for its size and speed. Opera takes care of about 90% of things I do on the web, otherwise I revert to FF or Chrome.

I'm a big fan of FF and its bottomless pit of plug-ins and add-ons.

No. We hold everyone hostage for pop-tarts and Mountain Dew (Diet Mountain Dew and Pepsi One in my case.)

I hate that AOL pulled development on Netscape. The last version I used in 2006 was brilliant and would run in modes to emulate either IE6 or Firefox and I could specify what URLs would be opened in what mode. I could use one browser with multiple tabs to work with multiple instances of several database applications. It was wonderful.

I have no idea what FF is. I just hope the first "F" doesn't stand for "Fist".

"FF" could be shorthand for a description for Mark Halburn considering the amount of pain that "FF" has caused Putnam County.
