Q for Cameron

There is a short stick on the hill behind the old Coalton County Jubilee and Manning Furniture between Cannonsburg and Grayson (OLD US 60). Do you know who owns it, who last used it and whether it would be worth anything? Just curious as I have passed by it a million times.

I don't know if it has anything on it now. I seem to remember a fiberglass-whip on it at one time. I was past there yesterday and don't recall seeing anything on that stick now. Fairgrounds, landfill, and trucking are all contenders - but no licenses show up on wireless.fcc.gov.

Is the old WTCR-AM site (late 60s) totaslly gone from that area, or did any part of the original plant survive?

A number of years ago there was an RPU antenna on that tower. Someone....think it may have been WPAY, actually did live broadcasts from the Jubilee.

WTCR (AM) was originally located in Cannonsburg in an area just across US 60 from where Super Wallmart is now and next to The Waffle House. After the station move to the hilltop in Catlettsburg, the old WTCR studio and transmitter site was converted into a church. The building is still there and continues to be use as a church.

TCR's tower was "recycled" and stacked at Tarpin Ridge for the beginnings of the 93.7 signal. (Still have the base-insulator)
It was finally torn-down and scrapped in 2003.

The original WTCR transmitter site in Cannonsburg was re-used by WOKT, with two small unlit towers in a DA-D. They have since cut down to one tower, changed to 1080 and are ND-D.

What about an Illudium Q36 Explosive Space Modulator? I know Cameron has one in the locked filing cabinet in his office, but he refused to use it to either make my signal stronger or kill the signals of other rock stations. It was something about the FCC and laws or something. Fuckin' FCC. They always ruin everything.

I spent a lot of mornings in that building in late 1959 before I moved to WFTC (AM) in Kinston NC this was a sister station of WTCR. I worked as Eddie's assistant and staff announcer and as Chief and staff announcer in Kinston. radio was fun in those days A great time to be in radio.
